I thought it was pretty good looking but a part of me think at such a big discount especially for a walk in customer,something must be wrong with this model right? either it cant be sold or its not popular??

The real worth of a watch lies in the resale market value, not the retail price tag. It really speaks of how desirable the watch is to the collector or enthusiast.

Is it? I used to purchase thru Amazon and deliver via Borderlinx, always declared as gift. And when the goods arrive at my Borderlinx address, they will check with me the value of the goods. Maybe that practice has changed.

Zenith gets my vote

frankly, i'm quite a noob in watches.. never really know what zenith was until recently.. only know the more commercial brands like tag, rolex, omega, etc.

Try declaring it as a gift.

Depends on the model. After all, movement aside (which you may not even see), ultimately the look of the watch must please you.

more of a looks person i guess.. cos i really dunno how to appreciate good movement.. of cos if it has a good movement, then it is a plus.

I'm partial to both brands. Both have their merits. I'll be happy to own either of their watches.
Some of Omega time pieces looks really good, like the new Speedmaster 57 with the bi-compax dial.

Do you have any specific model in mind? Easier to choose this way

Need some opinions on 2 watches...
I'm leaning towards the Invicta cos of the movement and looks but most Seiko vs Invicta threads on the net are pointing me towards the Seiko. Major dilemma here, need some help!

If you are considering a sub homage (as evident from the Invicta), try Steinhart / Squale.

You may also wish to look @ Christopher Ward too (the C60 Tridents for example, appear to be a mix between Omega due to the wave dial, and bit part Sub look).

If you want a decent Seiko diver, I would recommend the Seiko Sumo, or something similar to the one you were looking @ could be the Seiko SBDC007 Shogun.

You have to get Amazon to declare as gift before it reaches Borderlinx. Cos otherwise, Borderlinx will know the full value of the goods and straightaway deliver to Singapore, by then, Singapore customs will know the real value of your goods and GST will be charged accordingly.

Wow, I really like the Chris Ward but unfortunately it's out of my budget... Do Singapore have the Steinhart Ocean 1? Is buying online cheaper?

Thanks for the lead. Looked it up online. Don't think it suits me - looking for a dress watch. This one looks sporty and its 11.7mm thick - that's about the same as the B&M Clifton I was eyeing earlier, but have since removed from my shortlist because of the thick case.

I've got a couple of Zeniths in my shortlist of dress watch to consider. But both of them come with pin buckle. Somehow I don't like them - troublesome to put on and difficult to remove. To change to deployment will cost an extra $600 - $1000, based on two sales persons in two different shops I visited. That's crazy!

Am I just being picky or if pin buckles perfectly acceptable for watches costing over $5000? I find those deployment types nicer. Pin buckles I had in the pass all end up with cracked leather or rubber straps.

Omega PO vs which Zenith model??
I have to say PO/seamaster/speedy are among the most versatile watches, you really can't go wrong with them.
Zenith watches tend to be dressier based on their recent collection, their striking 10th looks really good but not at your price point.

First shop - just change the buckle. Cost around $600
Second shop - must change strap as well. Cost around $1000.

The only pin buckle watch I have now is my Timex. All others are deployment type. So I kind of equate pin buckle = old style/budget watch. But the Zenith is not budget.

if you dont mind, can always buy those OEM deployant buckles... < $30
