Great we might be there LOL. I will be at Niseko Hilton on 22-24 Dec now got promotion early bird booking 30% but still expensive $500++

I don't think we'll be there until the 24th as we have to be back for Christmas eve with the rest of the extended family. Probably flying back on 22/23 (so we might still be there when you arrive).

As for the price, I remember paying more than S$700 per night in 2011, including Breakfast and Dinner, so this sounds cheap already. Must be the falling yen.

btw, Booking.com seems to be cheaper for this period now

Waiting at haneda airport for my return flight. Drove around hokkaido, chitose > sapporo > otaru > asahikawa > monbetsu > furano > lake toya > sapporo > chitose.

A pity tulips at kamiyubetsu are not blooming yet. If anyone needs help with map code or anything, let me know, I'll try to help!

it is due to the yen dropping. now everything 20 % cheaper compare to last year while i was in hokkaido LOL.

may I check for Hilton Niseko. How many rooms did you book? Do i need to book 2 rooms if 2 adults & 3 kids , 3 , 8 & 10 or they will allow to squeeze in with 1 extra bed?

We took a Panorama Room (with 2 beds + 2 sofa beds)

For the last two trips (before our baby came), the older 2 slept on the sofabeds, and our girl (then she was 3-4) slept either with my wife or if she slept in one bed, the wife and I would share the other.

Beds seemed wide enough for that :)

Sadly, the last time I checked, Panorama Rooms were all sold out in that period :(

Well guys I've just returned from my 8 days 'super' trip to Hokkaido...:s13:

Had a great time over there. ;) For me, this trip was really what a proper tour to Hokkaido should be.... my 1st trip to Hokkaido 5 yrs ago with A*A was total crap...:s11::s11:

Do give me some time to arrange the photos and videos to be posted here. I have taken approx 1000 pics for the trip.

i went 8 day with the family and stayed in Sapporo throughout the 8 day with side trips to Otaru and Asahikawa. Main reason for that is because my folks wants to stay in only 1 hotel. and my mum cannot walk / stay outside for too long (it was bloody cold!) so only me and my dad went for the side trips. Despite the very limited itinerary, we had a good time thanks to the food we were spoiled with xD temperatures at that time was -ve ~ +ve. with windchill, was -10, -20 oops.

for otaru - we walked the entire stretch from the stop near the music box museum all the way to the canal. I don't remember how long it took, probably 3.5 hours or so because we stopped at a lot of places otw. like the others, don't miss out on le tao! (actually saw all 3?4? le tao branches on that day). next time i shall try the cheesecake lol

There's a Le Tao branch located on the ground floor of Dormy Inn@Otaru. Which is of cos, opposite the Otaru JR station/bus terminal. So actually there's no need to walk all the way back to the clock tower/music box factory to buy your Le Tao products.

For those who are travelling to Otaru for the 1st time, Le Tao main store is located just behind the Nissan showroom along a small street.

Don't worry, there's only one Nissan showroom in Otaru. Just walk around the showroom and you can see the store liao.

you can get LeTao at the Chitose Airport Domestic Terminal building so there is nothing to "worry" about even if you miss it in Otaru unless you want to take a picture of you have been to the LeTao shop(building) in Otaru :s13:

the reason we walked the entire stretch is because we wanted to go to the music box museum and the otaru canal, and also drop by for some ice cream and also check out other places too. since they are all one stretch, might as well just walk.

Yup sure. Ahhh... pls don't remind me of the excellent weather and air quality in Hokkaido. I'm on the verge of banging wall liao:(:(

This stupid haze... really made me feel like seeking refuge in Hokkaido for the next few mths.. Its still <20c in Sapporo even during summer these days. :):) Mombetsu temp can drop till ard 10c in the late evening these days.. ahh... 我要回去啊。。。

FYI, Isetan at Scotts is having a Hokkaido Summer fair. Do go there and be shocked at how much more you need to pay for your LeTao and shiroi kubito products.:s13::s13:

Me too... :( not just the breeze... everything over there is great.

If Yen can maintain at ard 78-80yen to SG$1 long term, Hokkaido can be yearly retreat for us wor. We can go there and relax even though we may end up touring the same cities in some legs of our trip.

Hokkaido is big enough for repeated visits and its scenery is worth the repeated visits. And it will take many trips to cover the whole island properly :s13:

Hokkaido can be yearly retreat for us

That's my plan....

I'm actually looking for some property there too....

But in the mean time, a small house near Hirafu for an annual winter retreat will do :)
