good and reliable cpu repair

Anyone know a good and reliable pc repair shop that wont chop carrot? My cpu died on me last night.

Ok it all started when I was loading my game. Then suddenly my screen became pixelated and crash. When I restart my CPU, it straight away brought me to Windows Startup Repair but it failed to repair so I restart again.

Then now when it only prompts me to either Start Windows (Normally) or Windows Startup Repair, if I start windows normally it won't load after the Windows loading screen (where you usually see the Windows loading bar moving)

So I tried to do some hanky panky with my HDD and found a way to get into command prompt. I googled "format cpu using command prompt" and I used the ntfs method. Now my HDD I think also haywire.

PS: My screen is still pixelated as of now. Hence I highly suspect is my gfx card, but my hdd how..

Windows start-up repair won't help at all. Don't waste time on it.

Take out gfx n use onboard graphics n see how.

Clean your pc internals while u r at it.

HDD should be quite hardy bah. What do u mean by hdd also haywire liaoz? What did it do?

Try disconnect the power cord to the pc n connect n start up around an hour later. If can get in, do some backup for ur data first.

Then do a mem test on ur RAM.

If ok, next will be testing PSU...

Used to have this problem on my old rig. Decided process too long and boring to fix, end up build a new rig. Lol.

What is your pc specs? How old liaoz?

Sometimes it might be the batt on the mobo that is dying.. Thus affecting the start-up process also.. So can just change the batt..

See the blue pixels popping out? It suddenly become like that.. sometimes the colour go haywire too..

After I press "Start Windows Normally" and go to this loading.. The screen turn black instead of the normal start up page and auto restart

Ok, I'll unplug my gfx card and try the onboard gfx later when I go home and probably clean a bit. I probably won't do anything more than unplugging and cleaning cause I'm pretty sure I won't know how to put them back..

if you formatted your harddisk means everything gone...
need to do fresh install of windows

The problem is I don't know if I really formatted because I format halfway crash again..

Might be power surge also.. Anyway, also guessing might be HDD also up-lorry le..

If PC too old liaoz like Core 2 Duo and older, change pc bah..

You still using vista.. Lol.. Need to upgrade to at least Win 7 if you gonna change PC.. I think newer mobos don't support Vista anymore..

Since you not really comfortable in fixing your own pc, then bring to someone else to fix bah..

That one I cannot help u le cause I've been doing my own fixing since I learnt about PCs..

When is the last time you clear the dust in the case?
Not sure but it might be cpu overheat cause system to clash. The other time my niece's pc had clash and pixel problem on the monitor. I thought is mobo (using on-board graphic) or monitor problem as the monitor was quite old. I check and found thermal paste is dry and so re-apply thermal paste. Tested and found everything ok.

You can even use Win XP with z77 or z87 boards, no such thing as new chipset doesnt support older Windows version.

You go to the mobo websites to check. They say mobos don't support Win Vista, but Win XP, yes.

Win Vista is the only odd one. Read somewhere on the reason but can't remember where or reason.

Im using windows 7 home premium and my processor is i7. The insides are pretty new but my gfx card and hdd about 8 years old. And my case havent clean for at least 8yrs+

Oh.. Lol.. Then use clean the insides, remove the gfx and use the onboard graphics to see if it works bah..

Guess you gotta try to format and install your windows again on the HDD..

If doesn't work, try another HDD if you have a spare or borrow a spare from a friend.. Not difficult to switch HDD..

Just follow the cables connecting and remember them before you connect another HDD bah... 2 cables only..

Read his first post first lah. He assuming his cpu died. Doesn't know much about PC fixing, so was asking.
