Set in the near future, Gatchaman follows the story five special agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo as they try to protect the world from the mysterious terrorist group who call themselves Galactor. With technology that far surpasses that of humans, Galactor has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it. Trained to draw out the power from the mysterious crystal-like object called a "stone," our five heroes will be called Gatchaman.

Gatchaman comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Tôri Matsuzaka, Ryohei Suzuki, Gô Ayano, Ayame Gôriki, Tatsuomi Hamada, Shido Nakamura, Eriko Hatsune, Gregory Pekar. The film is directed by Toya Sato.

This ship in the picture - Gatcha Spartan was from part 3 of the series where all Gatchaman died in the end
The movie they made is part 1

their New God phoenix crush then somehow the professor 'recover' them

anyway there is too many version....rem there is also battle of the planets

You guys are right. I just dug out the final episode for Gatchaman...

Didn't expect the last few episodes of essentially a kid's cartoon to become so dark.....

yeah it was so dark in fact I was very young little kid at that time I was watching it and it became very scary to me because it was very dark , and I had nightmare of it.

Towards the last part of the series , the leader of the Gatchaman kena radiation and diagnosed with "cancer radiation". He was told to off duty as he will die. If he attempt to continue fighting, he will "melt" away if he attempt one more time the ultimate Spartan charge because of the extreme radiation. Then their mentor and professor was killed, leaving them alone without anyone knowing how to solve the radiation problem. Without the 'Spartan charge' they really have difficulty fighting enemy but to use it mean the leader will die.

the Big boss alien killed the enemy leader Count by making fake promises and betraying him (imagine evil killing evil) , and the Gatchaman could not destroy the big boss without Spartan charge and had to rush into the core of the big boss and tried to destroy his heart which was a high voltage orb-like object. But the voltage was too strong nobody could touch it, so the 2nd in command sacrificed himself using his super strength (he had metal endo skeleton) to destroy the shell that guard the heart, he got electrocuted and severly damaged. All the Gatchamen decided not to leave him alone as he no longer can move, and they all fought to their death as the leader destroyed the orb and all die together with the explosion that killed the enemy boss

Well the series had been very light hearted for kids but towards the end it became very dark for little kids
It was weird to become so dark I could not forget that part, and had nightmare because of it lol

FINAL EPISODE OF GATCHAMAN

At 4:45 -- Death of enemy leader Count Egobossler betrayed by Alien boss Zeta

At 6:02 -- 2nd in command Joe the Condor scarificed himself

At 1:00 -- Leader Ken destroy the heart of Zeta and all Gatchaman died

Seems like Filmgarde always help to bring in Japanese anime to real actor movies to Singapore...

Same thing for previous Kenshin movie as well as the Masked Pervert movie (forgot name)... :angel:

They are most likely targeting the niche market dominated by fervent fanboys like us. Too bad these movies, exclusive to Filmgarde, almost never reach the mainstream audience as they are played in too few locations.
