Is having a front intake fan pointless ?

I read that the front intake fan is meant to create a airflow to the rear but than the front to the rear is just too far to be effective so it does nothing just cooling ur hdd and nothing else liao .. Unless ur front fans are like 5000 rpms

No, use high static pressure fan for front intake fan to push air through hard disk area.

2x front air intake fans @1200 rpm blowing towards HDD, PSU n gfx.

Whole system quite cool compare to old system w/o front fans even when gaming.

Conclusion: they r not useless.

Front fan brings cool air in, and the hot air should be exhausted out of the case by a rear fan. They are not useless from my opinion and experience. Depends on how you configure your fan to optimize airflow.

Intake fan works better than Extracting fan.

The extracting fan may not be strong enough to create a negative pressure in the casing to allow sufficient fresh air (outside) to be drawn in via vent holes.

Hence, the intake fan mechanically draws in the air, cools the CPU etc and in turn it is pushed out by new fresh air through the vent holes.

If your casing has very small vent holes or they are located directly opposite the intake fans than the cooling may not be effective.

The vent hole (be it inlet or outlet) must be situated in such a way that it creates a "Cross Ventilation" in the casing.

at least must have one intake 120mm fan and one exhaust 120mm fan

You want to create +ve air flow in your casing, meaning more intake than out going air. Else dust will be found in every hole/opening of your casing.

Just get those washable filters will do. Every few months wash them. Major cleaning of those fans/cooler inside your casing, once a year will do.

basically u cnt have all intake fan cos all air in will block hot air from going out and will still b hot.
U blow a cool air in, if u blow in hot air, it will b hotter.
It really depend on how e whole configuration is to determine e best flow.
dun forget, fan is just a circulating of air, it is not cooling.
u feel cool bcos e 'wind' circulate away e hot air.
worst is casing fanless, air is still, and will b hottest.

give u an example, outside is hot, u on aircon in ur house, do u still on a wall fan dat suck in hot air from outside.

True. I believe HP server Z2XX/Z4XX also one single fan. My Servers are using one delta fan for 24/7 operation...

If work PC sit in A/C room throughout it's lifetime, of course will last much longer than if it were to be placed in my living room where my Phantom 410 easily collects a layer of dust after 1 month

Of course not, but that's because with the aircon on, the house is cooler than the outside. But the air inside your case is never going to be cooler than the air in your room. . . .

Not disagreeing with you when you say you need some exhaust, of course. But you are surely mistaken when you imply that 100% intake is worse than no fans at all.

my post nvr say dat outside air is hotter den inside e casing, did u find any senetence in dat post, i was just talking about about physic, a very general statement.
