Check your provider policy instead?
Most filter 25 due to spam potentials.

seems like not provider issue.
when on direct connection to router. i can send emails.
when using my paid u.s vpn server. no issue too.

Hi poor_poor,

Is there a need to perform a hard reset?

Because after upgrading, everything still seem fine and i'm surfing without any problem.

Read this

This version add many new features, please press the reset button more than 5 seconds to reset the RT-N66U after firmware upgraded to prevent unexpected problem.

Anyone has any problems after updating to the new firmware... My Wireless connection doesn't seem to be stable, disconnecting after about 5 mins and doesn't auto connect.

Alright, shall do it later when I'm back. Anyway, does it wipe out my current static IP Settings?

Any settings that are applied on the router will be wiped out.
Any settings that are applied on other devices will remain intact.

Check with u guys, any using this router change the antenna to better dbi one?

Need to upgrade antenna as my room wifi is quite weak on this router. Been hunting for asus ant157 in sls and challenger but all never carry this.

Anyone change to other brand/model and any improvement?

1st, don't place the router near any speakers, their shield will block the wifi signals.

2nd try adjusting the antenna horizontally and pointing 1 of them into your room.

3rd what device you are using to test download speed? The speed varies between my laptop, HTC BS, IP 4 and N7. The best is to use N and 5GHz.

Both

Use mbp, note 2 and iPad 4. Most of the time using note 2 and ipad4.

Wifi range to device is 5 meters from router with 3 walls in between them.

This might help in penetrateing through the 3 walls. Perhaps Asus@sg can comment but reviews seems to be positive.

In that case I'll just have to go to Admin - Restore/Save/Upload Setting - Save Setting and do a back up.

And after performing the soft reboot, I'll go back to the same place and Restore to my previously backed up configuration, correct? :)

If you restore, all your efforts would have been in vain, because some settings have been changed and may have become incompatible with your previous settings.

My advice to you is: factory restore -> upgrade -> factory restore -> configure settings from scratch.

However, I have tried the latest official Asus firmware and it's quite underwhelming for me. Perhaps it's because the last firmware I had used was RMerlin's custom firmware. Thus, I have switched to 374.33 beta 1.

I've got my hands on this router and yes -- definitely an upgrade from my old Apple AE router.

thing is I"m connecting to my fiber via DirectONT the unofficial way. With all the manual settings done up there's this one for Hardware Accelerator under Switching mode which I had to disable to get it working.

does anyone know what that Hardware Accelerator does?

thanks

Hi everyone

I have been using N66U on Singtel FB for some months - recently got upgraded to 200 MPBS.

However, I can no longer get the full wifi speed thru my N66U anymore.

On 100 MPBS

Wifi (5 GHz) to my macbook (2012) - i can get 100-115 mpbs all the time

on 200 MPBS

wifi (5 Ghz) to my macbook - average between 150 - 170 mpbs.

My N66U is on the latest FW from ASUS. Is there a hardware limitation or I should call Singtel? Hardwired is not an option for me as my TP and router is in my Kitchen! Distance ia about 10m and thru 3 walls. sorry....stupid design in condo.

I believe its hardware limitation.

you need to go 802.11ac in order to utilize all 200mbps, which means changing the router and the wifi adapter on your macbook

imho 150-170mbps is very good results for 5GHz on your current hardware

I am also grappling with this issue. Correct me if I am wrong. This is a two-way traffic, meaning that the client device must be able to send the traffic back to the router/AP. So, even if the router/AP has super strong signal and penetrates all walls, the client device antenna may not be strong enough to send the traffic back (or even connect to the router/AP in the first place).

I think the best solution is to place the router/AP in a central location. Or to wire another AP to the main router and let this AP cover the "blind spots". Wiring is ugly and not always possible. So many homeplug to link to the main router/AP and the secondary AP.

Getting a stronger antenna may not be the solution. What do the experts think?
