Some background info
1) wife wants to buy iMac cause its aesthetically better looking vs. a desktop
2) i did some googling and realized that Intel actually has a chasis that lets you build your own AIO (all-in-one) PC.. Thin Mini-ITX-Based All-In-One PCs
3) managed to convince her on an AIO instead vs. paying the sky high for an Imac 27inch..

so my question is any bros here know if Sim Lim shops have the capability to build AIO pcs? and maybe to recommend which shops would be best and even recommend me a build?

budget is around 1-1.5k (agar for now)

thanks in advance for the advice

mynextcom has a DIY mini itx ivy bridge build you can do. (comes with 3 years warranty). Everything assembled and I think there's free delivery.

you choose your casing first then you can choose your hardware options. You will need to buy your monitor separately and if you need keyboard and stuff.

Ivy bridge would be a cheaper option to Haswell(latest intel generation)

note: the DIY build option do not come with graphic card installation.

nope, means u have to add manually to the ITX build.

its still possible to do so as most ITX have space for a normal sized card.

Go for coolermaster elite 120 advanced. good space and considered good air flow for an ITX

You cannot built AIO yourself. You need to buy from brands such as Asus or HP or Dell.

Those intro by various bros are DIY rigs

Actually you can, depends on how you define AIO. Can use the VESA mount Antec ISK 110, mount it on your monitor and you'll get something very similar to branded AIO.

Many if not most "branded" AIO's now do come with at least some sort of decent discrete graphics, while using the ISK 110 you will almost definitely be stuck with onboard graphics, which would seem very silly if in this case we are comparing against a 27" iMac.

Well of course, can't win all can you? I'd say AMD's APU's graphics is decent enough but the APUs will probably push the ISK 110 power brick to breaking point. Hopefully next gen APU will improve on power efficient so we'll have more choices on DIY AIO.

Short Answer: No

Long Answer: Can, but it isn't going to be as sleek, slim or stylish as an iMac. And don't expect astronomical savings over a Mac since doing a DIY for this kind of build already require a significant premium to pay for

those really small ones like apple mini or like gigabyte mini computers(as small as a powerbank) I believe do not have dedicated graphic cards. which means they are using intel's HD graphics.

So it depends on what you need it for. If its gonna use for gaming or rendering then you probably be better off with ITX. Go for those mini PCs if you are just doing casual usage eg: surfing, documents(excel, word, powerpoint...etc), youtube...etc.

good luck!

This option not good as the case is restricted on discrete graphics. If we define AIO as everything is in one monitor

He also never say wife complain our suggestions lousy, just that he's yet to find something visually pleasing yet at least close in performance to the iMac while not costing a bomb.

To TS, I think the Asus AIO's would be a good bet. Decent discrete graphics + not bad screen panel + pretty large HDD.
