Pls do not learn from Mr WILLIAM SNG (9818 8851), car plate 9191. Horrible experience makes me cant stand him anymore. 3rd lesson with him and he still ask me to drives around the carpark while he adjust his radio for like a 30mins(constantly switching around the channels for i dunno what reason?) and reply his msgs without guiding me pointers? Requested for his radio to be turned off as a beginner driver i could hear what he said sometimes becos he was speaking so softly and with the radio at volume 5, but instead was told that the radio would help me to relax? Cant do anything since he said that. He then continue to ask me to pull over and flip his theory book to the page where it says its impt to listen to road conditions!?! I am a beginner driver and of what use the traffic conditions would be to me? Furthermore he would tend to pull over whenever i had questions and tell me what he dont teach from the book but still he reads from the book anyway(he does this all the time) and alot non related stuffs like the passing rate of school, his wonderful coaching and stuffs which to me seems to be wasting time and totally not useful for driving which is a practical skill.
The boiling point was that he came late today and let his student alight before going to have his break and get some snacks but what's best was that was counted in my lesson time which he didnt bothered to payback and ended 5mins earlier instead. When i asked him why didnt he pay back? He just say dont be so calculative to ur instructor. Oh my, the 1st lesson i was late but he still ended on time which i blamed myself for that. I rebutted by telling him why not u dont be calculative and charge me 1.5hrs for 2hrs lessons? He was left dumbfounded.
Most importantly, during the 3 sessions i had with him, he keep blahing about school instructors being not good and how good he was as a former instructor and bbdc had to ask him over to teach the school students instead. 30+ years of experience he had but to me he didnt really coach really well with that amount of experience. Well he didnt even coach me how to adjust the mirrors or use them on the main road? (when i enquiry the use of the rear mirror and how should i position it, his reply was you dont need to care this u wont need to know yet, i was on the main road for god sake? How am i supposed to learn if u don't tell me how change to the correct lane using the mirror? He just checked for me and tell me to turn when it's safe -.-). I didnt know how the reverse gear was and work and was scolded becos i cant park inside the parallel parking when he asked me to drive back to yck mrt. I mean if u were being coached beforehand and if u cant do it being scolded is still acceptable. He scolded me becos i couldnt do it since he was in a hurry to drop me off and pick up another student. This is not very professional in my point of view, i paid for my full 2 hrs and wasnt being coached properly but still being shortchanged.
A note to learners: please try to find instructors which your friends have experiences with before and not source from forums as who knows it might be posted by himself.
Hi ruiyao,

i am student of the same instructor and just had my 4th lesson with him yst.
From your post, i can see that you are someone who is rushing to learn & finding fault in the slightest thing.

My first 3 lessons was on carpark and ensure my foundation of stopping and moving off was stabilized before going on the road. So what's the issue with you? You wouldnt want to stall your car midway on the road and create a road rage right?

4 lessons with him, and i have never seen him change radio channels. can we trust you on what you are saying??

and with the radio on, it was relaxing indeed for me. i was able to relax, be casual and drive well. its all in the mind of the student on how to adapt and be capable of driving.

yes he also pull over whenever i have qns and answer all my qns thoroughly before learning again. showing us the books and explaining is to lets us understand theory and when on road is two different things and do not be too focused into the theory. i dont see any wrong in that. so why are you making a big fuss boy?

why are you being calculative anyway? he is a instructor and been teaching since morning for various students. cant you compromise a little and give in and take? is it so hard? doesnt the instructor require a break? come on boy, dont tell you are so money minded just for 5 mins? pathetic man. how about your boss ask you back, you come late today, how about i dont pay you one day salary, wont you be dumbfounded? easy to point fingers at others, think if that happens to you, what will you do? really pathetic.

if you are stabilized on moving off and stopping , i dont think instructor will not want to teach you how to see the rear view mirror? on my 4th lesson, he has already tot me rear view mirrors. you know what, its not the instructor fault. its the student capability of grasping and understanding which i think it lacks greatly in you.

i have found the very same instructor from hardware zone and i don't have a single issue with him. its just you being the kid rushing off to learn fast & finding mistake in almost everything. Its in the capability and confidence of the student that allows instructor to teach further and more. Every instructor has different style, and we dont have the right to judge them. If you dont like the way he teaches, than dont learn, not by complaining like this. and all those complains that you gave are like small kiddo. hahahha.

oh yea, you say it might be posted by himself? well if you want, we can always meet up and discuss about this. the reason why i reply to your post, cos i didnt like what you had wrote and find it is like a kid complaining and give excuses when didnt get what he want.

With this attitude, good luck in learning and passing your driving license! :D

pass liao not learning le :s12::s12: the second instructor i had does not kpkp at all. however he is very long winded and keep nagging :s22:. Sometimes will jiak 10-15mintues by being late or early dismiss. He will tend to make you drive more lesson under him as compared to other instructor (good or bad you decide).

PM for his contact if you really have no one else to go to. His passing rate around 25% only though. ( i passed at first attempt! :O)

My instructor was teck kiat.
Eng wah took me for circuit once.
Both experience is good, they are sincere in their teaching and not about chionging through lessons to earn yr money.

Teck kiat is very 随便, ask him teach me more pArking he very on straight take out wooden planks then put on floor, i not enough cash he dont mind me next lesson pay.

I tell him i wan take tp in 10 plus lesson, he taught me eveything needed for tp in all the 10 plus lesson. Though i only pass 2nd time i think if u r fAst learner mr ong can be very good teacher to get license fast

circuit

@mypillowtalks:

hey, thanks for the reply last time. i've learnt parking- as with your experience at a open area, in my case it was at a multi-storey carpark. my instructor placed poles (he said it will be the same as the kerbs in circuit) for me to learn the reference points for parking.

i have a question actually, how many times did your instructor brought you to bbdc circuit to practice? and in your opinion do you think 2 is adequate/sufficient enough for preparation? cos tp is nearing, and that's the amount i think my instructor can give me (or at most 3)

Thanks!

If u are parking by poles you should adapt bu looking at the bottom of the poles and visualising them as the kerb. Because in circuit your sighting point most probably will be the kerb.

For my first tp i went to circuit twice, once a few days before tp, the other on the test day itself.

My 2nd tp i went 3 times, 2 near tp, one one tp day

2-3 times is enough, it all depends on individual, some learn fast think circuit easy. Some think very hard need to observe a lot things

Taking BTT soon. Should I find instructor before or after? In case the good instructors have no slot then I have more time to find others? Or do you guys usually find instructors after your BTT
