My instructor was teck kiat.
Eng wah took me for circuit once.
Both experience is good, they are sincere in their teaching and not about chionging through lessons to earn yr money.

Teck kiat is very 随便, ask him teach me more pArking he very on straight take out wooden planks then put on floor, i not enough cash he dont mind me next lesson pay.

I tell him i wan take tp in 10 plus lesson, he taught me eveything needed for tp in all the 10 plus lesson. Though i only pass 2nd time i think if u r fAst learner mr ong can be very good teacher to get license fast

New to driving!

Hi All,

I'm new to HWZ, I just passed my BTT, booked my FTT in Jan, and I'm trying to find a good PDI to start practicing driving, my friends mentioned that this way, it'll be easier to pass FTT. I've read through the past threads and have a few questions.

I saw some positive reviews about a few PDIs; i.e. Mr Seow Eng Wah, Mr Ong Teck Kiat, Mr Johnson Ong, etc. I made some calls and generally, they quoted me:
1. $32/hr (Peak hour as I can only do weekend sessions due to NS.)
2. Additional $30/hr - $34/hr for booking of circuit practice.
3. $180 for car rental to use during the test (They all mentioned that there are certain additional things to pay for too on my test date but it's not included in the $180, so somehow it amounted close to $300+ maximum.)

So, I just wanted to ask:
1. Is this the normal market price?
2. Also, on the average, how many circuit lessons should I attend?
3. What are the additional things I have to pay for on my test date?
4. For new learners, how long should 1 session be? Is 1 hour per session sufficient and how many lessons should I take?

Sorry if I asked too many questions, I'm a complete newbie to the driving world, would appreciate any advice or tips. I contemplated converting to school for practical but the enrollment fee is so expensive! I'm a little tight on cash so I don't think I'll be able to handle the school fees, even private fees are killing me!

Sorry for the long post too but thanks in advance for any help/advice provided and if you have a PDI to intro, please tell me!

Hello fellow members! I'm going to register for my license soon. But I don't know whether to take private or school. Personally I drove on the road before. I know that I cannot park well and check blind spots. Basically I want to take class 3! The one for the Manuel cars. Should I enroll with school or go as a private? I only need to learn how to handle Manuel cars, how to park and check blind spots/use mirrors well.

darn it! No one ??
where else can i get a instructor ? Should i head hunt at ubi there?

You can try Mr Tan Cheng Kiat, he is very patient and his method helped me pass my auto test on my first trial! His schedule is quite full though so I always book my lessons in advance.

Hi Mistrol

Just to help you clear the air a little, I paid around that price as well. Which is:
1) $32 for peak hours (1-hr lessons)
2) $52 for Circuit + normal lesson (30 min circuit, 30 min normal lesson)
3) $266 for test date (Rental of car, warm up etc)

In total, I did 11 practical lessons incl 3 circuit training. Spent a total of $600. Passed on first attempt. :)

I've read in other threads that some students had to go through many rounds of practical lessons (e.g. 30-70 lessons) which to me, is really quite a lot, but that also depends on your driving skills. I'm quite sure the instructor would know you best and advice you approximately how many lessons you require, what are your weak points etc.

Do let me know what other info you require.

Good luck!

Hi guys, ill recommend mr Tay for those that are looking for a driving instructor in the east. Long story short, I don't face any of the horror stories that are all around the web. Enjoying my driving lessons so far and thanks to Mr Tay's excellent teaching methods, I am quite confident of passing my tp in the first try next month.

I wanted a instructor who can pick me up from my place in tampines but I couldn't find. I took some of the people on this forums advice and contacted le driving instructors and got a lesson fixed up w mr Tay. Thanks for the recommendations guys! Really glad that people are spreading quality services on the web :)

Hi all,

I enrolled in school and found that it is expensive and depends on luck the instructor will not clear the modules. I have just completed my module two and still recommended to take quite a lot of lessons before the exams. Moreover, I still have to take 2 auto lessons.

I have not cleared final theory yet. Will be doing it early dec, already booked from school.

I would explore my options to switch to private lessons after my FTT, I assume just in the parkings modules (module 3 in ubi). Would that be advisable and what would be the suggested action plan in this case to save both time and money?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone taking a look at ledrivinginstructors.com? Anyone actually tried them? would appreciate some feedback because they seem to be pretty new. Also, does Mr. Ong Teck Kiat teach in the east?

Nope Ledrivinginstructors is definitely not new, engaged them for an instructor a few months back, had a good experience, very friendly and helpful staff. And also they seem to be on the top of search rankings if you google "private driving instructor", from my personal knowledge about websites, it takes a pretty long time to achieve that.
