Nope Ledrivinginstructors is definitely not new, engaged them for an instructor a few months back, had a good experience, very friendly and helpful staff. And also they seem to be on the top of search rankings if you google "private driving instructor", from my personal knowledge about websites, it takes a pretty long time to achieve that.

PDI recommendation: Mr Ng Chin Lye

Hi people

I have just gotten my license yesterday, it was my second try. I would like to recommend the PDI that I have googled online, and I think I was lucky to have managed to get someone who has 20+ years of experience and really know what he is doing. :)

For those who are interested to get a PDI at Ubi CDC, you can call Mr Ng Chin Lye, 9682 8502. I was not really good at memorising routes, but he can rmbr them so well! He has a systematic way of teaching, you will be able to drive as long as you rmbr what he teaches you. Eg, the way of turning, and certain things to look out for. He has quite a high percentage of passing rate when I checked at Traffic Police website (h t t p: // driving-in-singapore DOT spf DOT gov DOT sg), under the tab Getting a license --> Motorcar --> Passing Rates --> Private Driving Instructors. His passing rate is about 52%, but do note that the percentage is calculated using the no. of students being tested and no. passed. so some instructors might have 100% passing rate, because he only has 1 student, and that one student passed. (you can see in the website itself).

My first practical test was really jittery, and I was quite a nervous wreck, so..I failed due to carelessness. I was glad that I managed to calm down (slightly) during the second practical test, and I passed!

Mr Ng takes note of what are the subjects, and certain road conditions that you are having problems with, and will let you practise them. His per hour rate is $32, irregardless of weekdays or weekends. He does not do pickup, you just need to go to the coffee shop behind comfort delgro driving centre, and he will be there.

I think I typed a lot! d: well, I am really relieved that I passed and really thankful I got a good and responsible driving instructor. :)

Thanks!

Hi Mistrol

Just to help you clear the air a little, I paid around that price as well. Which is:
1) $32 for peak hours (1-hr lessons)
2) $52 for Circuit + normal lesson (30 min circuit, 30 min normal lesson)
3) $266 for test date (Rental of car, warm up etc)

In total, I did 11 practical lessons incl 3 circuit training. Spent a total of $600. Passed on first attempt. :)

I've read in other threads that some students had to go through many rounds of practical lessons (e.g. 30-70 lessons) which to me, is really quite a lot, but that also depends on your driving skills. I'm quite sure the instructor would know you best and advice you approximately how many lessons you require, what are your weak points etc.

Do let me know what other info you require.

Good luck!

Hey Cheryl!

Thanks for the info! I asked a few of my friends and finally settled on 1 instructor that he introduced to me, Mr Tan Key Chuan. Seems like a nice guy to me, had 1 lesson with him and screwed up a few times lol but he didn't flare up at me. He charged me $32 per hour, $33 per hour for circuit and $200 for car rental though.

I don't think I can take 11 lessons and pass like you but hopefully I can pass it in 1 go so that I don't have to take too many lessons and pay for rental again lol, i'm super broke hahaha

Anyway, did anyone else learn under Mr Tan Key Chuan? Would like some reviews about him too.

Oh and is 30 mins for circuit like too short for a beginner? because I have friends that told me that 1 hour isn't even enough, should I go for a 1 hour circuit lesson?

Hi all,

I enrolled in school and found that it is expensive and depends on luck the instructor will not clear the modules. I have just completed my module two and still recommended to take quite a lot of lessons before the exams. Moreover, I still have to take 2 auto lessons.

I have not cleared final theory yet. Will be doing it early dec, already booked from school.

I would explore my options to switch to private lessons after my FTT, I assume just in the parkings modules (module 3 in ubi). Would that be advisable and what would be the suggested action plan in this case to save both time and money?

Thanks in advance.

we are the same! LOL. it took me 10-13 lessons to clear my module 1. one of the school instructor suggest me to change to one team( fix instructor). Common pool 60-70% will have different instructors and cars every lesson. many people say school instructor has standard, but their standards are not even too. moreover, they have different way and style of teaching which some times really confuse you. so i changed to one team which costs me around $79 per lesson becuase i usually have lessons on weekend due to NS. i cleared my module 2 recently, and the instructor ask me go for another 16 lessons before go for test. i was like wt... so thinking of changing to private. but one of my friend who was a private learner failed 3 times. so still thinking should change or not ... any kind soul give some suggestions pls

Has anyone taking a look at ledrivinginstructors.com? Anyone actually tried them? would appreciate some feedback because they seem to be pretty new. Also, does Mr. Ong Teck Kiat teach in the east?

Never tried them. Only heard of them recently on forums, last year when im looking for instructor none of my friends told me about them. Usually they only give me thier instructor no.

Ong teck kiat think never teach in east. Usually my leason with him is at west side bukit gombak

In my opinion, the first 16 lessons I took were really in depth. The time spent on practice was well spent. I cleared module 2 with only minor demerit points. I repeated some lessons though and were very unhappy when the instructor took 15-20 minutes to go to toilet during lesson time when I am already behind schedule. (I didn't go for the ONE team but kana the same instructor twice, both times he went toilet.) I am disappointed with the level of professionalism of the school instructors.

I am currently determined to switch to private based on many reasons. I'll be asking from a friend who just passed private recently. Will let you know how it goes if you are interested.

Hi, I'm a student in CDC school but failed my TP yesterday. The earliest next test date is on 3rd Jan. I plan to take at least 4-5 lessons before that as revision. But the problem is there are no available practical lessons left for December for CDC as the instructors are fully booked. Is it ok if I take practical lessons under pdi but take the test as a CDC student? If so, does anyone knows any good pdi available around late december?

Where does he conduct his lesson?

Sometimes it's what you pay, what type of service you get.

Just to share my experience after switching to current instructor mr tay. Although he's rate is slightly higher than average, he is way way much patient and friendly. he does not make sarcastic remarks when you make repeated mistakes. You will be amazed the way he teaches you parking. din know got such simple and shortcut steps. within 1 - 2 lesson, can easily park the car with confidences!! my previous instructor only know how to say "ok..turn left.left ok. now right,..ok turn turn." wasted much more money even though per lesson cheaper...:s12:

contact him at 9456 9797 if you want to give it a try. SMS him better so you wont disrupt his ongoing lesson.

Hi,

I will taking TP next Monday. I had 2 PDIs. Long story short, my 1st PDI was crap. Had 2 lessons with him and decided to change PDI. Weird temper and 'eats' my time.

2nd PDI, approached his car when it was parked at Kahtib. Best decision I made for taking license. I have had about 22 lessons with him, very patient and gives out clear instructions. Never had problems with him, no temper, doesn't sleep during lessons, never had toilet breaks before. Occasional trips (3 out of 22) to top up fuel towards end of lesson, but it was an experience to manoeuvre in the petrol kiosk too. I stay in Yishun, so when I have lessons from 8-10pm, i drive to my block which is nice, no need for bus or taxi. Oh ya, furtherest trip I did was from Khatib to Haw Par Villa area, it sure was a good experience.

He does lessons for Ubi and Woodlands driving centres. Picks up at Khatib for Woodlands. Not sure for Ubi. Only manual though, Mitsubishi car. $30/hr, same for weekday and weekend. $50 enrolment fee. Call or sms him @ 97250952. His name is William Tan.

I've tried ledrivinginstructors.
Called them like about 3 weeks back, they gave me an instructor $50 registration and $30/hr
Just registered again today and then a guy called me in just 1hour or 2 and the rate was $60 registration and $32/hr

I have not taken any lessons yet as I'm a very frugal person so I'm still just looking around for the cheapest rate I can find.
If anyone knows any instructor providing below $30 an hour and about $50 registration fee, please let me now via PM.

Are you learning manual or auto? To my knowledge, for auto, it is rather difficult, or should i say impossible to find one that is lower than $32/h. You should clarify it with them, they should know the market best.

Also, don't know about you, but for myself who learned at BBDC, I couldn't find anyone that is lower than $32 (believe me I have done my homework). I heard from my friends other areas cheaper, but BBDC lower than $30, from personal experience, all i can say is good luck

Hope this helps!

Will glad if u can keep me updated. Now not sure where to start. Are you going to cancel school lessons first? Or just go to cdc counter and tell them tat u want to change to private. What about those balance in school account?

I guess I'll give it a go with the $32/hr instructor. Not sure about the peak /non-peak rates, it was mentioned in the call that I wanted peak lessons in the evenings and also some lessons in the weekends, so perhaps this is the peak hour rate that they gave (32)

Many thanks

22 lessons (2hr/lesson, $30/hr) - $1,320
13 circuits (1hr/session, $23) - $299
- $23 for lvl 2 circuit, $27 for lvl 1 circuit
Actual day exam - rental of PDI car + misc - $215
Estimated Total - $1,834

You have to book the TP yourself after passing Final Theory.
Hope this makes things clear. PM me if you have more questions. I don't check this thread often.
