The GO keyboard doesn't seem to be working after updating to 4.4, so I am stuck without a proper keyboard app. Can anyone introduce something?

Maybe the set updating other stuffs. Sometimes like that. wait a while later see if it still the same. When there are updates behind the scene, the system can open and close some apps in its process.

when I got 4.3 in the beginning time same. some apps open by itself and close. like ghost action. later, without doing any thing. It become ok. And never had such auto open action since :)

Just saw system update available.
I only can hope i don't get problems others got :)
Finger cross. On line never hear ppl say after update blues..:)

All positive.

Try to visit some Nexus community on line and see if any one feedback about post update problem.

Cheers.
PS: Aftermath - just got my kitkat firmware. updated.
All seems fine so far. And it seems faster...........

As said. just got update n completed the process.
May need sometime to be certain all is well.

But i expect some apps might have issue with kitkat.
Maybe very minimum.

Till than.

Every update is an improvement over the last one.

If you upgrade/update, you are current and don't get left behind lor.

BUT if you are a laid back user.
Meaning not very active in using your nexus and the existing apps all working fine for you and you are satisfy, there is no necessity to update now.

You can always do it in future.
The Google server is link to our Nexus devices.
"If there is no auto prompt, you can always touch the "check for updates' link. And the system will take over from there with a bit of input from you. Its more like getting your permission to proceed. It doesn't suka suka.

Even in normal time, you can set your "play market" apps to NOT auto update apps. You can set it to just inform you whenever any of your apps you downloaded from play market.

Some apps that you downloaded from third party site may not be reflected in the "play market apps" and those apps you can't delete via play market app's function. You need to use the -> system - > apps management to delete.

Cheers.

Useful info on KITKAT :)
Maybe this would help someone makes up their mind if upgrade to Kikat would be good or not.

I understand, it helps to utilise ram better. Hence it helps device run faster. It also helps save power running some apps. Hence battery last a little longer. :).

Also can do wireless printing - cloud printing.
(what is cloud printing ? you asked ? :) - do a search on google. He is always your good friend. Hey you can even ask your Nexus 7 by talking to it - start by " Hey google, what is cloud printing? " and sees what happen after that ). Watch the below youtube info sharing video. Maybe than you would know a bit better if you have not yet know.

That are just some of the good of kitkat.

So whether you wants Kitkat or NO kikat.
All yours. :)

Check this out.

Cheers.

WATCH THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO for better insight of what kitkat does.:-

Maybe need to update the GO apps.

Older version may not work too well with newer OS.
See if there is any updates for GO apps.
If you have problem, most other users will also face the similar situation.

Its more of a not very compatible between the OS and the apps.

Not Kitkat's fault :)

"GO" would provide an updated version compatible with kitkat I belief (though I don't use GO. :)

The GO keyboard doesn't seem to be working after updating to 4.4, so I am stuck without a proper keyboard app. Can anyone introduce something?

Just redo the update/upgrade to kitkat process.
It should work fine. :)

Fortunately mine updated smoothly with no hiccups.

Thanks

Just got the kitkat OTA. Failed to upgrade properly.

Decided to flash it using the factory image. Flash it via the fastboot and everything seems fine.

Now the swipe down menu for wifi/bluetooth not working. The home button also not working. Are these new features of kitkat?

How to open the back cover ?

It would be good to know for Nexus 7 users.
If you can provide more details on how to do it. It would certainly be very helpful piece of info to a lot of ppl who needs to do DIY IA.

Your info seems too brief from my perspective for any one to attempt. Do it wrongly may cause more harm than help the situation. Instaed of opening the back cover, one might damage it and cause another problem before solving one that one is facing :).

If you can provide more clear instruction. I am sure many people would appreciate it more and would be of great help.

YES we heard it out loud " been there done it" haha.
BUT do be emphatic. Many ppl including myself "not been there not done that yet". :) so pls HELP. I also would like to learn. I kow someday i will need to do it too.:)

For now its like (for this case)leading the blind to see bro.
Show us clearly so that We can walk alone in future :)
And if need be help others in needs too.

Thank You very much :)

HI,

Its likely due to "driver" not found on your system. hence your pc doesn't and is unable to create an icon to access your nexus on your pc now.
You need to install the driver so that window will be able to interface and able to communicate with your Nexus device. Than a "Nexus 7" icon would be available as an accessible removable drive on your desktop.

To verify if your PC actually detected your device, You can check (after plug-in your Nexus 7), under "MY COMPUTER" . Click on the blank background, look under the device manager. there should be a ' yellow colored" "??" unknown device under the "portable device link. That means an "unknown" device was detected plugged in to your PC, but windows can't give it a drive name. Because there is no "driver installed for the attached device. And they can't understand each other. :). Thats the layman way of explaining. Hope you get what i am trying to say. Hopefully this will also help someone out there having the same problem.

This video may help. Watch listen , observe and give it a try.
The nexus toolkit mentioned in the video is a all in one tools useful for many devices for rooting /de root. Open bootloader/ close bootloader etc etc.

BUT the same tool kit can be use to help install proper driver for our Nexus 7 to enable windows to "talk with it". Once driver is successfully installed, you will be able to see it under 'my computer" as one of the removable drive. By default ' Nexus 7" :)

Watch the video, try the method and do let us know if you are successful after that :)

Than (IF still cannot), We will see if we know of other way to try ;)

here is the link to the youtube video.
(Hope it helps)

Not sure if it works for u, as my nexus 7 wifi is unlocked, rooted and installed with cwm.

backup your software using Titanium/mybackup
install fastboot
download JWR66Y factory image and extract *.img in the zip file
put Nexus to bootloader mode (Press Power vol+/- at the same time)
fastboot erase boot/system/cache/userdata(will wipe your user config!)
flash the boot/system partition
startup and boot JellyBean
