from what i checked with my friends, this orientation is to bring you around school, sign contract etc. though im not sure if we still need to sign because we accepted it online..

orientation camp should be the week before school start? :o most likely

cancel! now dangerous
Actually, it's safe as long as we avoid the protest areas 'cos they're in isolated areas. And BKK is so big! But I think I'll cancel the trip 'cos I don't want to give my mother a heart attack haha. I'm supposed to backpack there alone for 10 days :( Stupid protest ruined my plan.

This orientation is for you to meet up with the RMIT staffs and for you all to submit a hardcopy of modules that you will be taking in your first semester! :)

Okay, for people who are thinking of declining exemptions (since I saw another person posting about it), SIM student services advised me to accept all the exemptions because I won't be able to take back the exemptions should I decide otherwise as school proceeds. We can request to do more modules as we study.

SIM-RMIT 2014 academic calendar

SIM important dates - RMIT University

RMIT's referencing method. Heard that assignments that don't follow this method are marked down.

dlsweb.rmit.edu.au/bus/public/referencing

Quite useful.

The referencing thing very similar to doing FYP during poly times.
Never do referencing = fail

But Poly times got lecturer supervise the project :s13:

so we can choose what modules we wanna complete in first sem? is not like poly where every sem is fixed modules?

what you guys gonna complete first :o finish up the common core first?

RMIT school fees so much higher than UOL?

RMIT - Around 13k per year
UOL - Around 8k per year

Almost 5k difference :s22:
UOL has honours for their degree but RMIT doesn't .

Why the higher school fees?

i think it's because one is from uk and one is from aus? so the rates are different.

i searched uk newcastle, it's $11,500 pounds per year. but $30k aud per year for UQ.

uk unis from what i know is inclusive of honors, cause dissertation is in the syllabus, smth like FYP in poly i think? but not included in the normal syllabus for aus unis.. educational system difference bah :o

Nahhh haha first sem is alr chosen by them...they just need you to submit a hardcopy. They will be going through a few administrative matters too!

It's higher cos RMIT fees are inclusive of exam fees but UOL, you have to pay about $2k plus exam fees per year so ultimately, about the same :)

No eh, UOL 8k per year is inclusive of the exam fees.
I saw the breakdown of the school fees for UOL.

Around 6k school fees + 2k exam fees.
Adds up to roughly 8k per year.

5k difference compared to RMIT.
