Build New Rig - Advise

Want to build a rig for the following usage

Need: PC + Monitor + Keyboard/Mouse/Speaker
Budget - Below 1K for all the above

1) Mainly is multi tasking for work. Like to Surf Web (open many many tabs ) with other Windows programs running also in background at same time.

2) Causual gaming, not hardcore gamer. Don't need best performance, just reasonable gaming is fine with me

Tentative Setup

Processor + Motherboard: Undecided. Some claim AMD is better value for money?
Graphic Card: Maybe a low end one for causal gaming?
Monitor: Would like a 21 to 23 inch one, full HD.
SSD/HDD: Not sure if SSD would be practical for my usage?
RAM: I'm thinking to go 8gb or 16gb for RAM, as the main reason I'm trading out my laptop is the 4gb ram feels lagging (90%+ meter).
OS + Optical Drive: Would go with Windows 7 to install.

Question:

1) is there any promotion period for the Sim Lim Square shops (PC Themes etc) ? Assuming no right, they keep same prices all year long?

2) I don't like to bargain so more important is which shop would be reasonably priced and reliable nowadays (I suppose SLS is still the place to go for DIY Rig) to give good support if there's any need for repair/exchange?

3) Does Fortan or somebody else still provide the buy parts and setup at your home service?

- Might go for I5 instead of I3, read reviews that I5 is best for overall value/performance (haswell or ivy bridge?) .

- Still favoring going for 16gb ram to further proof abit, as I'm used to multi tasking and leaving pc on for days (using up more Ram).

1) If opt to DIY at SLS, which shops are good nowadays?

Last time do at PC themes but that was couple of years ago.

2) How much can be saved if ordering certain parts from overseas, anyone tried before. maybe not worth it if not much saving.

RAM so ex now, no point going for 16GB if u dun need. there's no future proofing. DDR4 is not far away from desktops
you can always buy more when DDR3 prices go down.

Thanks , good advise! Will go for 8gb ram then. Think DDR4 will not be ready for maybe 1 year and will be expensive also.
