but i asked the supplier of a portable hdd recorder le.
he say RCA only can record non-hd.
I see the box set can record up to 1080p what make me abit confuse le

HDMI or RCA is for the connection between STB to tv, it has nothing to do with the recording itself. What you need is just turn on the STB, plug in external drive and record it. You not even need to turn on your tv.

FTA channels thru DVB-C connection

are there any DVB-C set top box available?

Hello,
I am not sure this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know where to get legitimate DVB-C STB to receive FTA channels from SCV wall outlet?

I have problem getting FTA channels over the air using AC Ryan Playon DVR-HD which is a DVB-T box and a simple 5dBi indoor antenna. I suspect my location in Tampines Central at level 6 in the middle of a heavy built up HDB blocks is preventing any decent reception.

I ponder whether it is a good idea to spend on a better indoor antenna like Daiyo antenna EU1702 or a Margon Antenna. Any suggestion welcome. Thanks.

If the matv has the T2 signal, the starting point is that Draco stb can decode to both hdmi and composite output.

If you want to use the draco output to connect to all 3 tv at the same time, I believe the draco is unable to supply the signal. Even if it can, the distance involved will make it a must to get quality hmdi cables plus hdmi splitter. Estimate the cable length involved and work out the cost.

ok, seem too troublesome for me to do all the cabling.. shall stick with sd tv for now.
thanks for the info :D

I am trying to get HD5 channel from the DVB-T box to record HD. But the box uses AV cable for recording. Not sure I can record, when the TV normally does not have an AV out.

by right not reverse.
i also tot of hooting this set na.. but i asked the supplier it say cannot record HD becos it use RCA. But i see the box set say support 1080.. tht one is for playing only ah :(

I see. The DVR has HDMI out to the TV. So, receive HD on TV but not reverse, right? eg record HD to DVR via RCA.

Thanks. No point to get a UHF antenna for the DVR since it would not record HD.
btw Happy New Year to all, cheers.

If your usage is only to obtain FTA channels from the SCV wall outlet, there isn't a case of legitimate/illegitimate I guess. Since it's FTA to start with.
There are many DVB-C boxes selling online.

I have the same set I believe. AC Ryan PVR76120 right the exact model?
The simple indoor antenna CMI. I can't receive anything too with that indoor antenna.
If I connect the set to my HDB MATV point, I can receive all 4 DVB-T programming on UHF38.
I ponder whether it is a good idea to spend on a better indoor antenna like Daiyo antenna EU1702 or a Margon Antenna. Any suggestion welcome. Thanks.
Try the HDB MATV wall point 1st if your unit still have it.

Record HD off another source?
Or direct from the DVB-T tuner?

If record HD from another source, surely no. Coz the AV-IN has only composite (RCA).

If direct from the DVB-T tuner, I believe can. But I have never tried it.
Although at this point in time, there's only HD5 available as a HD channel thru it to try. Since it's DVB-T only.

i only know it's an "adaptor" lol

not F female to IEC male adaptor
There are hundreds of adaptors. With "F", "IEC", "Male", "Female", you already have 16 different types, throw in a "Right Angle", you have another 16.

There are also BNC connectors again with many variations. I am sure the easily remembered "male' and "female" will go a long way in helping to identify the right adaptor:s22:

Hi SilveR1_09, not sure if you have seen this, no signal from my condo matv:

Hi mrsun18,
Yup. I've caught that. I'm in touch with him on PM.
He's using a DIY fractal antenna. Place near his window, facing South.

I tried tuning to Ch 48 off my unit's MATV using my T2 STB and also with a LG TV (DVB-T). Zero.
[The TVRI signals on UHF48 are DVB-T by the way. A bro from East Coast using a Humax was able to get them. I'm sure you remember though :) ]

No signal from your condo MATV?
Maybe it's too weak. As jywl12 noted, signal is weak even in Pasir Ris. In Bishan, perhaps off the cliff already?
