Someone from the Australian whirlpool forum has done it. He has successfully flashed a Korean 6270LVMB with English voice firmware and it works according to him. :)

I just tried firmware 9785 downloaded from LG Singapore.

It seems to be successful.

"Software update <some korean words> ..."

"Some blinking"

"Software update <some other korean words>.."

Hombot shutdown as per installation guide.

Remove thumbdrive and restart.

Still in korean :s13::s13:

Guys.. found that LG recently (Oct-13) release new firmware for VR6270LVB..
After updating.. the korean speaking bot become english..

LG Manuals, Software & Firmware Updates | LG UK

hi ghwong,

The model number seems slightly different - VR6270LVB vs VR6270LVM ?

Did you try it out on your VR6270LVM ?

Everything still working fine and it speaks English after the update ?

Thanks!

I can confirm is female voice :D

Wow - does that mean you tried the extracted Eng voice on your Korean roboking and it works ?

The only issue I see with this method is since the voice files are manually extracted by the Australian, future firmware which add more voice files, we will not get it ?

I believe latest firmware and going forward do not include audio files. I did not see them when I flash to latest 9785. Even if future firmware do add new voice files, we can just wait for someone else to extract lor hehe

Hi ralfale,

Did you see major improvement after flashing to 9785 ?

My house is laminated flooring - main living area is dark color whereas room is almost white - my worry is once roboking went into a room (with white floor), it don't dare to come out since the outside flooring is dark and might trigger the stair detection sensor.

Anyone has carpets ? Can share how well does it clean carpets or any issue with carpets ?

No idea to be honest. Weekdays I'm always not home when hombot is working hard. At least I can see it docking home safely everyday after upgrade. Working normally I guess hahaha. Maybe I observe on weekend and reply back if any abnormality.

Best Denki having a promotion offer for the VR6270LVMB at $1099 with 1 year LOCAL warranty from LG. They also offer an in-house extended warranty at $142 for a further 4 years, making a total of 5-year warranty.

Seeing how these bots can sometimes break down even during the 1 yr warranty period, is it wise to get the extended in-house warranty? Am contemplating to get this unit from Best Denki :)

Not a bad buy considering 5 years warranty.

Also you get peace of mind.

got my roboking from autovacstore, thumbs up for the prompt delivery.

i was able to flash my rk to the female speaking voice without any issue using the forum link by kst: LG Roboking robot vacuum - Cleaning - Home - Whirlpool Forums

after that flashed it to 9785; the stock firmware that came with the rk is 8180.

did a trial run and in the 9785 firmware, i noticed that the rk does a run along the perimeter of the house (in my case the living rm + kitchen) before it returns back to the charging base; did not recall seeing this in the old 8180 firmware.

will do another run today and see if this is the same observation.

cheers.

How do u verify the firmware revision of your bot? How did u know its rev 8180 that was in your bot?

Yes, its not a bad deal actually, especially for robotic cleaners. If the bot fails when the model has been discontinued, they will replace it with an equivalent new model if repair is not viable.
