Computer Upgrade (Budget ~900)

Hello , i have been thinking about upgrading my current pc . If i am going to do this i am going to have to change a mother board and case before i get another GTX 770 to sli . Right now i have a few questions , when motherboards say they are amd crossfire capable.. does that mean it can do sli as well? I would really appreciate it if you ladies and gentlemen could recommend me a good LGA 1155 motherboard that is in the below $200 range for sli. I am planning to go with a Mid Tower Case so if anybody has any suggestions on what case to get please do feel free to leave a post . I believe my PSU is At least 750W but i forgot since the last time i check was when i was changing my gpu from gt 545 to my current gtx 770 . Please do advise me on what to get and avoid . My main goal is to get another Gigabyte GTX770 windforce edition to sli .

I am planning to spend the money in the following way
GPU : ~$550
Case: Below $100 Range
MotherBoard :Below $200

if the mbo say support SLI is only SLI no crossfire support. unless they say both SLI and crossfire

i dun think you need to upgrade, your specs still berry gud..

LGA1155 is going to be gone sson le, not worth it

Actually, all mobos with 2 pci-e x16 slots can do crossfire, and only certain if not most z series can do SLI.

To TS, download cpu-z and find out what mobo is your com using. From there, can find out whether can do SLI or not. But, you need to check your power supply as well. SLI needs at least 750-850w.

What is ur mobo? If only gt 1 pcie x16 slot, den u no choice but to get new mobo, z77 or z87.

Or should i just go with a amd mobo and cpu , motherboards that use amd processors are not gonna restrict you to only using amd GPUs right?

TS you are using Acer Predator G5910?
There might some limitations of the Acer motherboard
and also the power supply if you want to do dual gpu.
To me there's nothing you need to upgrade so
maybe you wanna try reformat your system?
Btw what games are you playing currently?

i know its good enough to play nowadays games but i wanna sli now and futureproof it for the next few years . I play almost all games but mostly play DayzSA, Dayz , Rust , Waiting for TitanFall , BF4 and alot of other games that i am too lazy to list

Don't be foolish, going AMD from your Sandy Bridge Core i7 is a downgrade in almost every way... And not all AMD motherboard will support SLI, only high-end ones just like those Intel based ones will offer them.

Just get a new SLI-capable Z77 motherboard, a new 650-750W PSU (if current one isn't high enough) and a new chassis, and reuse everything else. Save yourself from unnecessary investment, time and effort try to achieve your initial goal..

A good contender within your budget would be ASRock Z77 Extreme4...

Can go look in tradepac, pc themes, mynextcom, best bargain, fuwell, best buy. Go see which offers the cheapest. But note that it may be charged higher due to now getting a whole rig.

To know whether support SLI or not, go look at specs in manufacturer website. Look under PCI slots category. It will state whether can do crossfire or SLI or both.

Also, if u are going for SLI, need min 750w, plae safe 850w. Dun go beyond 850w for 2 cards sli.

Z77 Pro4 cant do SLI, Z77 Extreme 4 can do SLI. Go do research before spending ur ang bao money on something that you got wrongly.

I think you read up more and think about it before doing SLI. I'd rather you spend that money on something else or save some of it for a GPU upgrade in the future. From the way you're replying, seems like you're totally clueless to what's going on and had not done your research.

If you encounter any issues with SLI configuration, or don't even notice that you need to keep updating your SLI profile/firmware, it'll be a hassle/waste than an upgrade.
