You think the guys here all so good ah, helping you to find watch for your htb. All got a common motive one. See la, unknowingly u kanna poison liao. :s13:

Coming to watch thread is like asking to be poisoned. Once start asking ' what to get for...' , gone case liao

You are still young, a piece of advise for u.(though im not as old as unker tt01)
Work hard, family and health is important, but also do live life happily. Live within one's means. But that does not stop you from dreaming :D

HAHA.Yes, other things are definitely WAY more important. Haha I'm probably able to afford a few decent pieces throughout my life to appreciate. And if I really do well enough maybe a little more than a few decent pieces.....

Another bro recommended this watch earlier in the thread, and you are in luck because I happen to know hour glass taka has a piece of both the s/steel white and dark blue dial. All hour glass carry this brand.

Yup, that's a nice shade of dark navy blue not black. Have seen it in the flesh and it's very very sexy. Retails for about $5150. Discount depends, but ranges around 20-25% which works out to about $3860-$4150

Damn, that's pretty

I also wanna know :)

Looks a bit similar to MUT Moon

Have you seen the white? :D

Very good value for the dollar, considering you get one of the most useless but very pretty complication, the moonphase.

Damn, I might go hoot one now. :s13:

Yep I remember it to be in my list before I did a drastic cut to 4 to 5 models. The navy speaks to me more than the white though. Can anyone share a bit more about this brand ?

Singapore | The Hour Glass

Very young brand, no hundreds of years in history. Same age as your hubby in fact.

Indeed a very attractive watch, with even an in-house movement. Value for money indeed.

Only problem is, it's a Patek wannabe in terms of design, and they are of course nowhere near them in terms of watch making innovation or heritage.

It's hard. Everything has been done. Offering such a nice piece at this price point is only possible when the brand lacks history. Unfortunately, much of the allure of horology is that romanticism.

A lot of people would rather buy a Seiko than a FC just for the fact that Seiko, despite most of their products being much more roughly made and finished, is a fully in house company, and has been for a long time.

Why the manufacturers' pictures are never as nice as the ones other people take themselves? =.=

Can't compare PP with FC bro, 2 totally different levels and target market. And you can't really say its patek wannabe in terms of design because how far can a dress watch go in terms of the already established design?

Besides, while you see them as being PP's design wannabe, I see it as bringing the elegance of that design to the more affordable public. And much of the romanticism associated with horology, yup, that's the marketing machine at work. :D

As for Seiko and FC, your "a lot of people" is more accurate when referring to the pool of people who have more horology knowledge than the average users.

To the general average users, given 2 choices between a FC and a similar designed/priced seiko/GS, there's a higher chance more than half will pick the FC simple because of the "swiss made" stamp.

Too many differing factors when it comes to each individual's picking of a timepiece.

Between Black bay and Pelagos I would go for the BB cos the vintage look is just so alluring to me (that and it's what I have, so yes biased in a sense :p)

Now that you mentioned..it does look 'Patek- inspired'

interesting discussion...... because it was exactly the same thing I was talking with my SA about when I went to try the pelagos yesterday: FC versus PP

she was telling me about the very popular FC world time watch which already has a waiting list. its affordable and it looks like a PP. and it works well - just that it's gold plated.
