Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry I am really a noob - So i just have to install the apk and run it and it will just root itself?

After which I install App2SD then it will install apps to my SD card? Do I need to do anything else?

lastly- is there an option of unrooting the phone after I installed Framaroot?

Thanks all

I have posted about the rooting process of the Singapore Redmi in detail over here, complete with screenshots.

Does it move full installed apps or only the app apk? Thanks.

I moved Candy Crush which was already installed on the phone to Sd card and had no problems playing it. Of course, Google has its reasons not to allow apps to be moved to sd card.

If you are interested, there is an article on this over here.

That's what they will tell you but the next moment, you get a knock on your door with someone holding your phone. :D . It happens to some others last week.

Logistically, it is very messy having to coordinate so many deliveries with their 3rd party couriers.

Hmm ... hopefully today or tomorrow the phone will be here.
Hope it applies for delivery to office as well.

Grey is boring.

I will give them a call to bring in red and white into our market as well, through one of their channels.

At the same time, you all prefer red or white?

Red of course! It's the signature color for Redmi (hence its name). :)

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean the screen keeps turning on and off by itself while charging?

If yes, its not normal. Call Xiaomi SG to ask

just got my redmi that was delivered this afternoon. very pleased with the phone athough my status bar is playing some tetris game with me (jumbled and moving text and icon). did a reboot and will see how it goes.

i have to say that coming from someone that was previously using the china version of xiaomi 2 back in 2012, there are some differences in the redmi. on my xm2, i could access ringtones from their online storage (similar to themes), download and use it. but for redmi, i can only use their preset ringtones as well as set custom tones. quite surprised to see the difference. believe that their home market set have some differences to ours.

maybe we only have access to the themes at the moment? can feedback on xiaomi sg FB and ask for ringtones too? haha. it will be interesting to see what kind of ringtones they are.

My status bar no problem, not sure why yours isn't functioning normally

I think my set is faulty. On some screens I cannot see buttons to press, on screens with long menus, I cannot scroll. Phone is unresponsive, I have to turn off the screen, turn it back on and unlock before I can scroll or see buttons.

It's as if someone mapped the buttons wrongly. Gonna head over to their service centre. Quite disappointed with this set, my first xiaomi was much better. :(

Luckily I still have my main phone to use.

I prefer both the red and white to the grey one. But hor do u guys think that it's weird for a guy to carry a red phone? Is it more for girls?

Gotten the greenlight. Yay!

U mean the folks at Xiaomi SG have agreed to bring in the white and red versions of Redmi? Do u know if they will also bring in the Redmi 1S model?

I think it depends on what kind of red, during CNY you see guys wearing red shirts and its fine. But if its pink, its another matter :s13:
