Has anyone tried SHOEMAKERS | handmade shoes | handmade brogues before?

It is a HK outfit with quite possible Chinese manufacturing behind it.

Very interesting, I might give them a shot when I head to HK next time.

I just did 2 pairs last week from Zee's Leather in HK.
Did a double monk and austerity brogue boots.

However, the turnaround time was only 4 days for both shoes with GY welt. Unlike the 40-45 days quoted by Shoemakers.

Measurements on 11th 3pm, fitting by 11th 6pm, collection by 15th 11am.

I have gotten a quote from dandy. 140euro for the patina excluding postage abit hard for me to swallow at the moment (i can get another pair of meermin :p ). Probably at later part of the year when me or my friend go europe....

Did u try to get a quote from edetal? Anything less may be worth it + u don't incur postage.

Bro, why don't you try to do the patina yourself? I understand that your shoes are like a 'blank canvass' now right?

I would think that the most difficult part of the process would be removing the original finishing on the shoes, a task that may damage your shoes if done incorrectly. If the leather is already natural and unfinished, then it is just a matter of dyeing or polishing, isn't it?

Save $$$, learn a new skill, and possibly teach us noobs how you do it when you are done. :s13:

Actually the boot that i have is what chickenbackside bro has posted. Grey calf. Maybe if i will to do it, i will also have to remove the existing colour which is easier. I will try to ask around first, if not i may consider doing it myself after i have gotten bored of the colour.

It's was because of the cheaper shipping that Why I gotten thats y i decided to send it over. Hahaaha:o

Might sharing the shipping cost? You can PM me....Also for shipping charge back to sg, dandy will bill us together with the service right?

I just asked my friend also he is going to Parma in September which is just nice for me.

I actually did ask before. He doesn't re-patina his RTW shoes.

I didn't try to ask ed... maybe i should try... may get different result haha.

Actually i am wondering other than ed, if septieme largeur is willing to entertain patina service other than their RTW model. But that aside, has to agree that alexander is the best in the world that can produce patina quality judging by the service result on his website.....

anyone here sport their tassel loafers without socks?

what are your methods to avoid hong kong feet going sockless?

I wear no-show socks. Bought mine from Tangs in Orchard, near the men's underwear section there. Very happy with 'em, pretty sure there are people who have the same socks lurking around in this thread.

Also, I sprinkle a 'lil Gold Bond on my feet, they stay nice and dry (I have sweaty palm/feet), and I also put cheap shoe liners (bought from Daiso) in all my leather shoes.

Finally, I always stick a cedar shoe tree in 'em, works wonders in eliminating odours, IMO.

The sock brand should be Byford ? 2 pairs for $10?

SL does not, at least based on what they told me when i asked during their soft launch. If i do not remember wrongly, patina vs non-patina is about $70 diff (630 vs 700) so it really makes sense to patina

He does? Maybe he services on a discretionary basis. In fact cbs shared before ed helped him re-patina a RTW pair sometime ago.
Actually it was 2 pairs. They were turquoise and red before. Told him wifey hates them and unless they change color, they're as good as trash. I guess he decided to help me out in that instance.

I did ask him about changing the color of the Mountbatten boots and that I was willing to pay for it, but he said he doesn't do it. That's how I ended up with pair of MTO Mountbatten's in 1/2 suede 1/2 leather in the color I want.
