Non certified lighting cable for iphone 5s

I bought a lighting cable for my iPhone 5s from one of the shops. Its cheap (like $3) and its working perfectly until today. It now says the following message:

This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone.

So my question is, if the cable is working earlier, why does it says this now and suddenly stop working for no reason? Anyway to work around it other than throwing the cable away?

Well it might be because the cable is damage,Same issue which happen to mine, just take note when you charge your iPhone especially when using it because for me, it stop charging suddenly for no reason and i have to plug out and in again before it resume charging. Other than that no issue with 3rd party/OEM cable.

*At least you got yours at $3, i got mine at $12 wtf...

Had the same issue with poor quality 3rd party cables. Worked for a couple of weeks, then the same message started appearing. And it happened for multiple cables. I finally gave up on cheap 3rd party lightning cables. Not worth the trouble, especially since I travel and have to depend on the cable for charging my phone on the go.

i bought 3 3rd party cables and finally have to admit that with iOS7, it is better to buy ori lightning cable. you never know when the 3rd party one will fail, not charge, or charge slowly with warning messages. sigh....
