1st Miui fan meet-up in Singapore

Just to update what happened at yesterday's Miui fan meet-up with Hugo Barra, Ren Tian and Peter. My blog post over here.

I took a picture with Hugo Barra before the event and he nicely obliged (there was a long queue for his autograph at the end of the event!) and recorded his presentation on the history of Miui. With his PR skills, I think he is going to be a key member of Xiaomi's global marketing efforts outside China.

Ditto. Mine arrived lunch time today. Wasn't expecting it on wkend. Considering my power pack still in Changing. Guess FedEx more hardworking than UPS.

FedEx is a much better courier company. UPS has too many service restrictions. I offered to do a self pick but they insisted that a first attempt must be made before customer can request for self pick up. Crappy policy when customer is trying to help with their overloaded delivery schedule.

I have to agree.
FedEx was more then happy to let me pick up provided I stick to their opening hours.
smart move, save labour and costs on their part.

Hi all, facing some storage usage issues. I have a 32GB miniSD card in the phone.

Using WhatsApp, and I am unable to download media sent to me. I checked the storage app on the phone:

Sufficient space on the phone

However, there is 0MB left for Phone Storage.

Totally confused! Why is there an additional thing called Phone Storage? Can anyone help?

Likely that the 4GB internal storage is partitioned. So even if you have space in 1 partition, it can't be used for another partition.

Do explore 1st page of this thread for options

Either uninstall some apps, if possible. If not, then you may have to consider adjusting the partitions. Think root required for that.

redmi and mi3 are quite different, even the MIUI and camera features are slightly different; suggest you research before buying

Both do not have LTE.

Redmi has dual-SIM, removable battery, a micro-SD slot, and price of $169. Home, Menu, Back keys have no backlight. Actual usable storage space is only about 1.52GB after the preloaded Google apps are updated.

Mi3 has much faster CPU (Snapdragon 800), more memory (2GB), more storage (about 12GB available), backlight for Home, Menu, Back keys, and price of $339.

Note that both are likely to be replaced by the Redmi 1s & Redmi Note (already available in China, but not yet in a compatible WCDMA version) & Mi3s (rumoured to be announced on 15 May) respectively.

HWZ's review of Mi3 does compare it with Redmi. Xiaomi Mi 3 - HardwareZone.com.sg

p.s.
and please see below for details on delivery; seen so many questions in this thread; many are unaware that the phone flys in from china directly; so need at least 1 week waiting time
