Hello,

Im intending to make a new Rig for work and really need your expert help. I use it mostly for surfing the net, watch videos, emails and excels sheets and very small games like online poker etc. I want the computer to be fast speed, so not much lag when using. I store quite abit of photos from my trips as well

Please do recommend me a rig to get, budget maybe 800? but flexiable. No need monitor etc, just the rig

Easy as you do not need a graphics card

Asrock H81M-DGS + i3-4130 $221
Kingston 8GB $95
Xigmatek Asgard XP + CM 500W Thunder $88
Win 7 64bit $115
Total: $519

For storage:
Seagate 3TB $143
Crucial M500 120GB $114

Total: $776

You could spend the remainder on a dvd drive if you need one

Thanks for your suggestions,

Is it better if I add in a graphics card? Or there really isn't a need.

And with this sset up its good enough to be lag free?

What's the most demanding you think you will play?

TBH, getting an i3 is also not needed.

My recommendations.

Crucial m500 120gb ~ $115 (For a fast boot up time, and also for overall smoothness of the PC and overall OS responsiveness)
Coolermaster Elite 311 + FSP Hexa 500w 80+ ~ $105
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $110

Thank you for your reccomand action

If I got the i3 inside this set up, will it make much of a difference? I would want something to last and not slow down after a while

Thank you for all your advices

Most to most is just facebook games or online poker.

This kind of games is not demanding. THey dont need a gpu. Most important is your internet connections/speeds.

There isnt any thing that you are running that requires an i3. Not justifyable for the need of it.

SSD is the one that improves the overall speed of your PC.

Not unless you thinking to go for real gaming stuffs. Then you would require an i5.

Ah ic,if I need to from time to time use photoshop/illustrator would that then require a graphic card?

So if I want to even further quicken my comp speed I should get a faster SSD? Bigger then 120 GB?

Sorry for all the noob questions

This would be a bit different.

Do you really often use photoshop? What do you do with it? Cause this will affect the overall cost of the rig. And probably you might wanna get a mid range gpu. So better think carefully. And photoshop needs rams.

No, SSD bigger storage dont really mean faster speed. Is the type of SSDs and the particular model the brand has.

Thank you for your patience,

I might be looking at 2 rigs I realize, 1St for my dad, like what I have been saying, emails, movies, light gaming like online poker and facebook games

This would be your recommendation right? If I want to upgrade abit more, say if can make the speed even faster to minimise lag?

And let's say for the second rig, again mostly for work, emails and alot of excel files will be multi tasking alot with a number of things opened at once, very light photoshop to do simple graphics like posters. What would you reccomand. You have any recommendations for monitors as well? Want something big and very clear.

Thank you so much for your time and expertise again appreciate it alot

Why don't you just get the more powerful PC and share with your dad since you are looking at just 1 PC initially? Just don't see why you need 2 PCs if you can do it with just 1 and also when both are going to differ by just the processor.

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-4440 + ASRock H81M-HDS @ $298
Intel HD Graphics 4600 should be adequate for your Photoshop needs. Use ASRock XFast RAM to create a RAM disk for Photoshop acceleration if required.
RAM: Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 8GB @ $92
SSD: Plextor M6S 128GB @ $119
Newer, faster, slightly bigger, 5 years warranty.
HDD: Western Digital Green 3TB @ $144
Best value, low power, 3 years warranty.
ODD: Samsung 24X CD/DVD Writer [OEM] @ $21
PSU: FSP Hexa 500W [80 Plus] @ $58
CASE: Xigmatek Recon @ $45
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit [OEM] @ $115

Total: $892

Optional:
DSP: QNIX Evolution II QX2710 27" LED [PLS] @ $274 (qoo10)

Buy others from Tradepac, #05-18.
