Thanks I guess! I hope someone would forfeit their acceptance to UNISIM Marketing though hahahaha!

Hey, I just got clearance to switch from Unisim's FT Marketing to Acc! Hope you get the slot.

P/S: I'm giving up SIT's Acc offer, anyone has thoughts (positive/negative) about this?

Hi Angelixal, faithinfate, WadsUpDoc, Sangviro and simon_84,

Thanks for your replies. It made me think about what my choice would be.

I have applied to SMU and NTU apart from SIM, but so far, I do not have any replies from either of them. So I am assuming that I will not get any offers. (My GPA is 3.46)

The advice from you guys about taking up the full time offer first is quite valid. So I am thankful for this eye-opener.

I am actually hoping my parents will be willing to help with the schools fees but it will still be quite a burden for us, therefore I have been worrying about the money mostly. The PT course is cheaper but a comment on this thread several pages back stated that a full time job with part time work is extremely hard to handle and I think that I might not be able to cope (but hopefully I can pull through should it come to that…)

I am actually wondering if any of you know why the PT and FT program prices are so different?

And simon_84, why do you say that graduating in 4 years would be a challenge? I still have a hard time grasping the concepts of what "cu" is…

Thx,
WHY-ORANGE :)

Hey Orange, I think by now you'll have received rejections from them? My gpa's 3.59 and got rejected for all except NTU's Soci. But well, got offers from SIT & Unisim for ACC so it doesn't matter. Just remember, we should know our full potential and it is their loss not to accept us. Don't ever think you aren't good enough. **** everyone who thinks otherwise.

By the way, interest-free loans are available! Or scholarships for freshmen too. You'll be able to manage it one way or the other :)

You going to reject ntu sociology for unisim acc? I am faced with the same decision for NTU sociology and unisim marketing. But I shall be leaning towards marketing cos business is my interest afterall.

Hi Oreooo, actually I only received an email from NIE telling me they reject my teacher application. My friend has been a scholar since Secondary school days and they accepted her… Didn't know wanting to be a Pri school teacher also need such high calibre? Haha

And thanks for the advice! Hopefully I'll get lucky with a scholarship from SIM :)

That's exactly what I thought too.. And I think Soci is a very general degree whereas business degrees might be more specialized? There are various interesting job prospects for Soci but ultimately it's just making good use of your command in English (where you get to strengthen in the time there). Even tho Unisim isn't as recognized but it's slowly progressing towards that goal.

I had my struggles with unisim's mkting and acc too. Couldn't decide which to go for cuz mkting is where my heart lies... Just looking at the modules of mkting gets me all excited and I can't say the same for acc. I graduated with a specialization in mkting and wanted to pursue it. But well, after many research and headaches, I decided to give up mkting cuz you don't actually need a mkting degree to do the job. Anyone could do it.

Not trying to sway you ya, that's never my intention. I'm glad you're firm in deciding to study in where your interests lie! Hope I won't regret going w acc.

May I know why you choose unisim acct over sit acct?

Hey happy2gether, saw somewhere (maybe in this thread) that you accepted Unisim's acc too right! We might be classmates in the future haha. Trying to justify why you chose unisim over sit too? It's ok, I had really hard struggles between SIT and Unisim.

1. Accreditation

Unisim has run acc programs before (despite being PT) and one of the criterion to be considered for gaining accreditation is to run the acc program for at least a year. We all know Unisim has more experience than SIT since SIT is practically new in this field (1 and FIRST business degree amongst engineering ones?)

Anyways, in SIT's acc page, it's stated that they're still trying to sought for accreditation even now. And the companies for our internships are not known yet. It's like trying to steer a boat without a direction

Granted, SIT is totally new and we should cut them some slack. But well, maybe that's what it takes to have a local and publicly recognised cert, courage and faith that they'll pull through. After all we're just guinea pigs for both SIT and Unisim. That said, I'm still grateful that they decided to launch these degrees this year tho.

Graduating from Unisim's FT acc grants you the chance to be on the same footing as NUS/NTU/SMU's student whereby you can go straight into the Professional program if you wna be a CA. SIT graduates would have to go through the Foundation program (takes 6 months only if anyone's curious; 6 core modules) before proceeding to the CA. And I read it somewhere that after you being a CA, it doesn't matter which uni you come from cuz you'll be viewed all the same now.

2. I feel that Unisim might be able to give me a more holistic education than SIT ever could, yknow?

I'm sure you went thru that rigorous selection process too. I spent 4hrs meeting people who are really nice unlike the people I met during SIT's interview. It's like, there's this camaraderie formed because we know the upcoming process will be tough, we have to stick together kind of thing. Anyways, the students recruited are definitely contributors to the society, because that's what they said they look out for, remember? "A heart for the society."

Also, I read somewhere that you can spend 1 sem studying abroad in their list of overseas uni accepted. I mean, wow, I'd definitely grab that chance if I can.

80 hours to clock in for the service project? Count me in. Doing community service is really my passion (no kidding, and no jokes about it) but people around me always criticise me for them. I get to meet like-minded friends there.

I'm pretty sure i can continue to drown people in this essay but yea, these are my key takeaways.
