Go samsung singapore website, look for product support and u can find AX021 english manual. AX021 is a new model released in 2014 with smaller capacity, however, it should be similar to the AX40 as far as operation, maintenance is concerned.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks. Managed to print the manual from the Singapore Samsung Website. The AX41 manual looks similar to the AX40 sold online.

Off virusdoxtor is the third button from the left. Press once.

Default is OFF.

AX40 default off. AX037 perm ON with no OFF provisioning.

Hmm... So maybe AX41 is AX37-reborn instead? Don't recall seeing OFF function in the AX41 manual.

The -ve ion ioniser (in Samsung speak that's the Virusdoctor) is denoted by the circular circles icon. You can see this on the AX40.

On the AX041FCVAUW, there is no such icon.

does placing the air purifier have any difference, like at the corner or the room or center or the room?

BTw, can check out the Stadler air purifiers (swiss made) @ Robinsons Orchard. They are really décor friendly in a contemporary designed home. :)

Stadler Form Viktor, really nice design.

But it's an electrostatic precipitator, I've used one before after the 1997 haze episode. It was a small one something like a Sharp A28E size, but costed my parents some SGD250. Now in 1997 SGD250 is like today's $600-700, so that's really expensive.

The good thing is that it's pretty energy saving, in contrast the HEPA filter presents quite a bit of air resistance (and the resistance increases as it holds more dust). The electrostatic panels also decreases its attraction power as the surface holds more dust, while the HEPA filter would maintain (just that the airflow drops). So in effect, it won't be anywhere near the performance envelope vs a HEPA air purifier, maybe can fight during the first 1 week or so. Or you wash the bugger once every 2 weeks. :)

But electrostatics don't have filter replacement costs. Just that for our purpose, HEPA filter replacements gotten from taobao (lower grade HEPAs probably, but they'd work, also tested with Laser Particle Counters before) or Amazon are really a few times cheaper than local retail.

BTW, you'd notice that they switched on the air purifier at the super lowest air speed setting...in order to reach 99% @ 0.3 microns (HEPA 12 performance). Also used an adaptor. Maybe 30 m3/hr airflow? :s22:

In contrast, check out the HEPA air purifiers tested with Laser Particle counters. Just put at the output "naked". No problem. :)

It certainly won't be able to do a Samsung AX40 @ 350m3/hr at that size. You'd need a humongous sized electrostatic, coz the airflow through the electrostatic panels cannot be that fast (metres per second) for the particulates to stick to it.

Can get 1 box of 3M 9002V to try. KN90 standard, ie 90% instead of 95% for N95 or 99.97% for N100. PSI500 -> PSI50? Still sounds good enough to me, with perhaps a small improvement in the reduction of air resistance. Also it's valved.

It's quite light, so tag it along with your next 4PX shipment from SZ to SG.

Fit looks pretty decent, it's not the turtle hardshell 8210. Can be folded.
