Accompanied a friend earlier to get his Redmi Note (WCDMA) from SLS 3rd floor. Verified the authenticity by cross checking the IMEI and S/N with Xiaomi official website and specs through CPU-Z. Total damage $289 for phone + case + sp and 1 year shop warranty (can opt for 6 months shop warranty instead @ $269)

SLS? If shop close down find who? LOL

Saw several shops at expo audio house sale,
198 for 1s and 289 for note, but do not know warranty for how long. Can play around with them there as they have display sets. The note looked quite nice and photo taken looks good. Go and try before you decide,

Went and tried out both 1s and note. Screen res on both phones comparable. Can't rly tell the diff (that 50ppi diff not so obvious). However the note's camera (13mp) is very poor. Photos taken are grainy, compared to 1s camera (8mp) 's clearer and sharper photos. Not sure if that extra ram and processor speed matters, but if the note rly costs $100 more, I'll probably go with 1s :s22:

Was weight an issue? Cos Redmi Note is 199g

To tell the truth, I didn't really notice it perhaps cos of the size. Then again, weight wasn't a big factor in my considerations; the size was (it just nicely fits my hands, tho I din get a chance to see if it fits in my pocket =:p). So was the screen res, camera and responsiveness of system. Oh, and of course, the extra price premium.

Xiaomi Taiwan just announced the availability of Redmi Note today! WCDMA and the faster processor version. NT$4999 which translate to about S$209!

Xiaomi Taiwan

Guess that Singapore will be next!!!

Would like to get one when it launch here. But, the server may not be able to hack the traffic flow... :s8:

But, if the price is S$209, it will be close to the Mi3. Which would be better?

mi3 has better performance [snapdragon 800], but redmi note has useful features [dual-sim, removable battery]

Yes, no SD card slot and non-removable battery is the down side of Mi3. If the 64Gb is selling, then more like better off.
