Why is jw so cheap?
Why is jw so cheap?
Unfortunately, 21mm is a rare width. I had a hard time finding ready-made straps for my 21mm watch as well.
In the end, I bought a whole bunch of 22mm NATO's, which will fit into 21mm lugs, and only a couple of 21mm custom straps.
You can also squeeze 22mm straps on 21mm lugs easily too. So that actually opens up a lot more possibilities. Every strap maker will have 22mm straps.
In the picture, the 21mm watch is mounted with the $15 22mm Paros strap from K2. You can see it actually looks just fine.

Manly PAMs don't need no damn tools. Stick some toothpicks in there and it's done...Nice straps, CBS!
I like the Bergen tool more!!![]()
Is it really very cheap? What is your basis of concluding jw is so cheap?

May I ask if that Bergeon 6825 plier works leather straps since there is no clearance at the ends for the tips to fit in unlike bracelets?Unfortunately, 21mm is a rare width. I had a hard time finding ready-made straps for my 21mm watch as well.

thanks slow_mo...
The whole watch shopping experience was really, truly amazing...
at Far East yesterday, we actually popped by Lu_Ann (level 5), Monster Time (Level 2) first before we made our way to HJ.
Russell and his staffs at HJ were extremely helpful and extremely friendly, even though there were alot of customers. Not to mention all of them have very good sense of humor ^.^
And whats most important is that they don't mind us trying on PP, AP, Franck Muller and ALS... the uncle even told me: "Try lah... if don't try ah. The watch very lonely..." lolx

The backcase is Tudor. HJ has another one whereby the backcase is Rolex.
The watch is considered vintage but I'm not willing to pull the trigger on that cuz scared the servicing cost might be too high.

Oh, I only use the 6825 if I am mounting/dismounting the original bracelet or NATO straps.May I ask if that Bergeon 6825 plier works leather straps since there is no clearance at the ends for the tips to fit in unlike bracelets?
Many watches don't go for list price at ADs. You can get 15%, 20% discounts and maybe even a credit card deal like the Maybank $600 off!
Don't compare JW's discounted vs their listed price, compare with prices posted on SWX.

For a normal 2-piece leather strap, the normal spring bar tool with the fork is the correct tool to use.
It's in the picture because I just removed a NATO strap from the watch.
Actually, like any trade, they buy low(er) and sell high(er).
But their skill lies in their ability to buy low(er)...
My friend sold one of his watches off to one of the famous watch dealers before. Let's just say they "chopped him gao gao". But he still sold it to them cos he was desperate for money and at that moment, it was the right thing for him to do.
As buyers with ready cash, they're the easiest and most accessible avenue for people who need to sell.

Yes, that's definitely true. As far as I can see, no matter how skilled a person is, using a single forked tool to remove bracelets WILL introduce scratches. There's no getting away from it.I see! Thanks! That 6825 is a charm for bracelets which I would not mind investing in but most of my watches are leather-strapped. A single fork seems to require more skill unfortunately.
Nice straps, CBS!
