Easy to root, but at your own risk

IMO, even after rooting, is it good idea to remove the MIUI apps? Those are excellent apps though. Regardless, MIUI is taking too much ram itself.

I reset my 1S,reduce items to sync and uninstall some apps such as gmail.
Able to get 200 to 300++ free RAM.
Hope they upgrade to KitKat; 4.4 was designed to use less RAM.
I had an old phone with 512 MB ram running Cyanogenmod 11.1, and still have close to 200MB free memory.

Check the Malaysia review of Redmi Note a few posts back.
Gadget Review - Epsiode 48 - Xiaomi Redmi Note - YouTube
The reviewer made some valid comparisons with 1S.

Note is a bit big for my use.
It is also heavier at 199 grams; 1S is 158 g while Samsung Note 3 is 168 grams.

Another concern is Android 4.2 OS on note vs 4.3 on 1S. Phones with 4.2 tends to get slower with time due to lack of TRIM support. See Android 4.3 supports TRIM, improves performance on Nexus devices

Redmi note has 2G RAM vs 1G on 1S; so should be able to run more apps and games.
But I am getting 1S for my parents to make phone calls only. :s13:

Just realised from the video review that both phones do not support moving of apps to SD card.

You may want to check out Asus ZenFone 5.
Can order online at ASUS Zenfone series - ASUS online store

Yes. Both NOTE n 1S saves everything on phone memory. Ram easily hit peak for me. And 1S heats up easily.

so far 1 person received it from 15 july order? :s22:

What I noticed from the picture he had posted was of that of the bundled package of the 1s (the more expensive one) mine or ours (am guessing here) is a puny $169 only... moreover, he ordered TWO Xiaomi.. Big order come first mah... small order lets confuse the hell out of them with our partner in crime, UPS. Give them confusing scheduled delivery dates..

28 July :(
18 July :s12:
24 July :s11:
finally, 32nd July

May I know how can I uninstall some of the default apps? Any apps for doing that? I have rooted my set although though.

Thanks.

Settings, apps to uninstall.
Most of the Google apps can be uninstalled. Root not required.
