I genuinely feel that the quick change mechanism is a step in the right direction:

Advantages:

1. Quick & easy to change straps, using Panerai tool/toothpicks, etc.

2. Minimises/prevents scratches on the lug ends

3. Stops screw-in pins from "unscrewing" themselves through prolonged use, for those Pams that are still on the traditional screw in pins.

Disadvantage: Possible hardware failure that will require a new casing.

It is not a fact that repeated strap changes WILL cause the quick change mechanism to fail.

But for those Pams that have the screw in pins, you can change to spring bars for the ease of changing of straps. But of course, those spring bars may fail too. I had 1 set that was bent out of shape. Also noticed that my 512 has spring bars as standard!
Bo bian wanna change strap gotta give and take this kind of wear and tear. Spring bar no good. Very easy chui. Haha

nvm lah, what matters is that you enjoy the watch :D
but it might be that you got the J version (with the 21 jewels at the bottom), which is made in Japan, hence the increased price.

errr I bought on creationwatches.com about $260 for the Nato version. J version also. throw in the jubilee strap ($25?) also hardly $300.
BUT they do not give you an original seiko box; just some generic watch box. not that it matters to me.

Skywatches has some handling fee upon checking out.

but yeah, as long as u enjoy it, look ahead and dont be bothered with the price.

a lot of ppl here know I lost 1k for not waiting LOL T.T
