Actually no need to simulate. Since your problem is on and off, you just need to off everything and plug your computer direct to the ont with a cat 6 cable when the problem is acting up. Repeat with another computer where possible. If still lag, then it's most likely MR's fault and you can maybe use Binaries's ticket number as reference to complain.

During your call with them, do keep note of the person's name, rank and staff no. in addition to the date and time. Always set a deadline for them to come back with a resolution. If still no effect, write in and do the same as above. If still no effect, present all your records to case and or IDA to see what they can do. As paying consumers, we should not let service providers shirk their responsibility to us.

Hi all,

I don't use myrepublic but I may be able to explain why are there timeouts within tracert or pathping commands.

From what I learnt, when we run tracert to a designated ip, the ip addresses reflected are routers(not the one's u guys are using at home). These routers experience LOTS of traffic inbetween. For some routers, they ignore ping packets. Basically, they drop the packet and do not reply, thus you get a *.

However, if you get
* 125ms * 123.456.123.456
Its probably a poor network connection (not on ur end) or router experiencing heavy load or could be ISP side.

BUT if you get
* * * Request timed out.
It could be based on the explanation I gave above.
If you ask another friend to try, using another ISP, they may experience the same thing at that specific router.

I'm using the green network to enjoy the hubclub discount :)

Yea thanks binaries for doing such a detailed write up n contacting those myrepublic guys. It's really damn frustrating man. For e past 2 years of my contract everything was good. But now it seems like it's gng downhill n yet there is no one to help fix this prob. Zzz.

I know how frustrating it is, this actually happened to me since the early last month but I kept my faith thinking it's gonna go away maybe after a week of patience but apparently it didn't.

I got impatient after a week and decided to call in to make the CSO submit a ticket for the network team to check and and keep me in the loop on the 27th July but since then I ended up having to chase people around just to know if anything is being done or even checked upon.

I'm trying out a few new MOBAs lately, Heroes of Kingdom, Heroes of the Storm and it is just as latency crucial as to playing FPS especially when there's a team fight and for no reason the ping goes sky high and by the time it comes back down you're dead and the fight is over.

Initially I thought it might just be congested upstream or problems with the one game that I am trying but after more digging around I realized that 1 game aside.. the whole connection latency to MR from my end is lagging and spiking for no reason(which I have documented and show on some of my previous posts) and I'm pretty sure so far it has affected me more than just my gaming experience by now.

I even bought a VPN just to see if it helps me out but since the lag is coming from MR themselves, the lag is here to stay unless they get something done. This is not the first time I have to get VPN again just to play something smooth but certainly the first time that even a VPN couldn't help me out.

Guys, we are not closing down. To whoever wants to spread this rumor, stop. Or we will be taking actions. If you think this is an empty promise, think again.

For users who are facing Pings issue, would appreciate if you guys can PM me with your cust ID so I can help you check on our backend.

Same for speedwise issue.

I don't want to be a prick but you asked people with ping/speed issues to PM you but yet that was also the last time you even bother to come onto the forum, are you really sincere in assisting?

PS: I know a troll came in saying I was being harsh on Johnny/Jonathan after he made a post telling us to PM him if we're having latency issue? It has been a week since then, no sound no news no further post from him even after messaging him as he had requested and EVEN publicly questioning him if he's indeed here to help. I guess I don't need to comment more on this post and gone MR attitude we're used to on the forum these days. :s8:

That is one reason, the other being that the router de-prioritizes ICMP packets thus it may result in higher latency.

Any MR 1gbps user having problems with FB not loading pics and streaming videos properly? Been like this since i got my plan, last time the PURE plan was so much smoother.

the ping is still **** and why is there nobody getting back to me on the issue? call, email, livechat, posted here already and yet still no reply?

Problem with loading FB pics and videos still persisting. I know if i call up MR, they will just chuck it aside. Customer service really down the drain compared to 2 yrs when they first started.

CS always promise to call back but in the end, never close the loop. Must always spend 20 mins waiting on the phone.

still getting the lag spike issue at this time of the day. seems like nothing is being solved at all. no call backs or anything from any of the myrepublic CSO.

MyRepublic is my new idol, today supposed to go over to 1gbps. In the morning cut my existing 100mbps and no one came to work on it whole day. No one even called up to check. Seems like this company is run by cowboys on wild horses. :)

Best ISP in town. Guess i need to go buy joss sticks and start praying to my internet line. Does anyone knows the config to set for 1gbps WAN link on router? TIA.

Just upgraded to 1Gbps plan. Anyone got worst than mine?
Feels the same as before the upgrade. Crap...

You guys are really big screw ups.

Told me my recontract fee would be waived off when I recontract.

Then when I recontract I get charged the recontract fee.

When I asked about it, you guys said cannot undo, so it will become a credit to offset my future subscription payments. I'm not happy but I accepted. So I paid the fee.

And then now the very next month I get charged the subscription fee which is supposed to have been offset.. What the hell are you guys doing? Someone better contact me and explain or else I will take this up with Case and also tell the credit card company to do a charge back.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced from any company. Just pure incompetency, problem after problem. Really regret recontracting.

Try disable QoS and test again.

Flash to latest firmware and factory reset the router.

flashed to latest merlin firmware n disable qos...
the download speed increase... abt 900kbps...

Thanks, i did and spoke to a CS that's absolutely of no help. Said system error that's why no one came down yesterday. Come on, if my existing line is still up, i'm fine with whatever they say. Asked for reschedule and cannot bring my old line back up and I'll have to take leave off work again. Best part, my support ticket was closed by this same CS without resolving this issue. So I'm left with no internet access. Will terminate and move over to VQ, at least got a good reason now.

Seriously folks, looking at the many threads and my own experience, give MyRepublic a miss and hop onto another provider, at least I am. These folks can't run an efficient company at all. Singtel, no matter how suck they are, still excel in their customer service.
