Lallana should physically fit but I guess match sharpness is still a question mark since he missed most of the pre-season. I will avoid the temptation to start him this weekend, even if Sturridge missed the game. Hendro should be fit so no need to rush Lallana. Allen should continue to start since he is playing well.

At the top, I think BR has some decision to make. Should he play 4-3-3 with Balo at the focal pt. Or should he continue to play the diamond since Sterling is so effective as the no. 10. However, who can partner Balo upfront since Sturridge is injured? I think playing lambert with Balo in a diamond is probable but I suspect kind of slow mobility at the top. How well they can press AV's young defenders is also kind of questionable.

Therefore, I think BR should make do with a 4-3-3. Sterling and potentially Coutinho floating wingers/forwards behind Balo. It worked a treat in the pre-season with Sturridge..

i think it is important to rest Hendie... I have a feeling for last night's match, he was playing through injury by taking painkillers etc.

We can start Lallana, then sub in Hendie to keep the tempo or Start with Hendie, then around the 60th min sub in Lallana to clock some match minutes and get him up to speed.

Against Villa, they might play with a 4-5-1 formation to crowd the midfield, and try to break our team's tempo and game play.

If Benteke is able to pass the upcoming test and be fit for this match, it might be a very physical match....

We will need CAN, Lovren and Sakho to be in tip-top condition and 300% focus throughout the match.

Lallana should play some part of the game. There's no other way to get match fitness.

Our ready replacement for Henderson would be Can. In any case, I also think Henderson will not want to give up his place so easily. He has Suarez's stubbornness.

Weimann and Agbonlahor were quite in form and scored for Villa the previous matches, maybe they wont rush Benteke back so fast, I think Benteke should start on the bench

Liverpool FC should discover the extent of Daniel Sturridge’s thigh injury tomorrow – but are hopeful that the problem is not as bad as initially feared.

The Reds striker sustained the problem during training with England on Friday morning, and was immediately ruled out of the European Championship qualifier with Switzerland in Basel on tonight.

He returned to Merseyside over the weekend, and has been closely monitored by Liverpool’s medical team since. A definitive diagnosis is expected today.

At present, Sturridge has not officially been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Anfield, though Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be wary of taking any risks with his first-choice forward.

Liverpool do have options, should Sturridge face a spell on the sidelines, with Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic, Raheem Sterling and Fabio Borini all able to operate as forwards. Rodgers, though, knows the importance of the man who netted 24 goals in all competitions last season. Sturridge himself took to social media on Monday to hint that he would be back in action before too long. “Be back soon,” was the message posted on the 24-year-old’s Instagram account.

Elsewhere, Rodgers should have Jordan Henderson available for the weekend.

The midfielder was another player to pick up a problem on England duty, rolling his ankle during a training exercise on Sunday afternoon.

But after treatment, the Wearsider was able to play the full 90 minutes against Switzerland last night. And providing there are no ill-effects, he should be fine to feature against Villa.

Rodgers should also be able to call on the services of £25m summer signing Adam Lallana, who is now fully recovered from a knee injury. Lallana is yet to feature since his move from Southampton, having picked up the problem on the summer tour of the USA.

He had been expected to be in Rodgers’ squad for the win at Tottenham 10 days ago, but missed out.

But he came through a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wolves at Melwood last week, scoring the only goal of the game, and is now in line to make his long-awaited debut this weekend.

Liverpool already have doubts over the fitness of Glen Johnson (thigh) and Martin Skrtel (knee).

Some updates, Sturridge undergoing a scan to determine the extent of his injury..Johnson can spend more time on the treatment table.
