Yeah the new system is half baked one so far. Initial launch many of us got problems with it. Some got 8 years contract others like me got no contract :s13:

White elephant until they fix it completely.

Totally agree. Its a very pure white elephant at this point of time.

Just yesterday I was making noise about MR charging me extra on my bill out of the air. Both the MR bill (sent to my email) and my Card transaction shows the same $74.90 but in the MR customer portal, it still shows the correct value of $59.90. The billing side still tells me they didn't charge extra until I force them to refer to their own bill which they had sent out. :vijayadmin:

I think at this rate.. they are just providing me the bullets to get out of contract early without penalty.

Hi MR reps,
I just received a call from your staff in the evening stating my appointment will be tomorrow however, I have a small concern because during the initial upgrade sign up during earlier this January I chose the ASUS AC56U router. Instead I would like to purchase the ASUS RT-AC68U. I brought this issue up with the lady however she told me she already escalated to her superior. To avoid disappointment can you kindly ensure the correct router will be listed for my order?

Thanks in advance!

Your 2nd plan will not work as you intended. Connecting a switch to the WAN will not do what you want. You should insert a wired router between the ONT and the switch. Just get a router capable of routing 1Gbps (e.g. used N56U, just disable the wireless). Your AC68U should be configured as an AP.

Code:
TP -> ONT -> wired Gbit router LAN1 -> Gbit switch -> patch panel ports
wired Gbit router LAN2 -> patch panel port -> AC68U (AP mode)
wired Gbit router LAN3/4 -> patch panel port(s) -> other higher bandwidth devices (PC etc)

i bought a cheap TP-Link WR1043ND router for the above setup.
Here's how i'm connected:
TP-> ONT-> WR1043ND-> patch panel ports.

Here's the issue. The WR1043ND is advertised as a gigabit router. And its product box says "All ports supports 10/100/1000Mbps"

When i connect my MBP Retina with thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, no matter what, i'm only getting sub 100Mbps speed.

If i by pass the router, go straight to the ONT, straight away i get speeds of 900+Mbps.

Using the Asus AC68U also gives me consistent speeds of 800~900+Mbps.

Is the WR1043ND faulty? Do i need to change any settings to achieve gigabit LAN? I emailed TP-Link and they wan pictures of speedtest as proof.
And they are sure that the router is gigabit supported. (Which i test otherwise)

Hope someone can advise.

There is a difference between a router which is capable of routing 1Gbps and one that has gigabit ports.
I mentioned a router capable of gigabit routing performance in my original reply (e.g. N56U). The WR1043ND may have gigabit ports, but it can't route anywhere near gigabit speed. SNB only measured 1XXMbps (OK, SNB did the test back in 2011, but even giving allowance for f/w & h/w improvements since then, still nowhere near 900Mbps).

I recontracted for 1Gbps on the 1st day of Comex and have not heard back from MR regarding installation date. A friend signed up for 1Gbps on Wednesday, got a call on Thursday to schedule an appointment on the 23 of Sept. A case of valuing new customers over existing?

the DHCP server quite bad. every time the lease expires, all internet activity stops.

I have to manually renew the lease on my router to get a new IP before the connection works again.

Im on 1Gbps plan as of yesterday.

This is what i Get, even when my Ethernet Adapter is on 1Gbps. Cables are all on Cat 6.

I find my DL speed is more the same as my old 100mbps plan on MR.

So whats the improvement should i be seeing on 1Gbps plan.. I seen fellow members post 900+ speedtest results. Even if i can achieve 700+ i be happy.

Speedtest directly without RT68 router direct to ONT is even worst 20mbps. :(

What should i do, get MR to come check on the Box?

wait so the Teleport service has stopped being free?
the latest portal seemed to have re-issued some of the payment invoices as well?

I think they forget to change your plan from the system.

Try MR own speed test server first.
speedtest.myrepublic.com.sg

You should restart the ONT and try again to make sure nothing can be done on your end. Just to make sure, are you using router with 1Gbps WAN interface? Common models like Asus RT-AC56/66/68U and Engenius models issue by MR will be able to support as well.
