You couldn't have tried a UK9 at edetal cos they use EUR sizing (39, 40, 41 etc). What you tried was a size that a conversion chart told you works out to UK9, but unfortunately, those charts aren't always (and I would go so far as to say 'usually') accurate.

Have to understand your feet well. I would suggest u go try similar style loafers of a few more brands to get a feel (Loake at robinson's orchard, septieme largeur, church at MBS, KS at 55 Boat Quay). If you don't end up confused and able to achieve a pretty consistent sizing across diff brands, then it should be safe to pull the online trigger! And remember to give Daniel a heads up to tompang saphir stuff when that happens! hehe

Good luck!

no wonder the guy looks confused when i told him i would like to try a pair of UK9. Aite! I'll be heading down town this weekend, so i'll take take the chance to try em

Saphir products? Where is he getting them from? I recently asked my friend to get me a few from afainepairofshoes.

and @ your topy question, i topied my first pair of leather shoe and was quick to regret it afterwards. Don't have the tap sound which i like after doing so. From then on, i don't topy my shoes anymore.

Made 3 orders with meermin so far.
1st one (Classic range) took 4 days to receive my shoe
2nd one (2 linea maestro) is now about 1.5 weeks in. Still not delivered yet
3rd one (linea maestro), if i receive my shoes tmr .... Took about 5 days.
Carmina i ordered direct from their website. If i also receive the shoes tmr ... took 5 days

Thanks! Any reason why Linea Maestro seems to take longer? Or is the fault over at the courier side?

Nope. Not within my budget! These are Church's in a G fit

Church's are quite expensive too. How much did you pay for them? You got those from Ion?

I initially thought those were saint Crispin's or the vass new peter last. Looks very good. Cheers!

Got them at herring sale, about $350 including shipping

Hey guys.. Need your opinions on my first shoe purchase from meermins' classic line.

I have shortlisted 3 pairs..

1. Black monks
2. Tan scrotch grain monks
3. Tan country calf 101375

If you could only buy one pair, which would it be and why?

Well i don't really think LM takes longer per se. I think its pretty much the luck of the draw. Some shoes might just not be immediately in Stock.
Like my 3rd purchase which was also LM but almost was despatched immediately.
The couriers are great. Very quick. Both carmina and meermin use UPS. The tracking is very good
Pediwear on the other hand, uses royalmail, whose tracking system is hardly informative.

What do you already have and what do you intend to use the next pair for? Your existing wardrobe; are you in wool trousers or chinos and jeans more?

I tend to alternate between navy & charcoal grey mixed wool pants more often, chinos perhaps for casual Fridays, and weekends. I am more inclined to build my business wardrobe, as compare to my weekend wardrobe. Ideally my next pair should be able to do between work and play.

My revised shoe collection is currently

1x black oxford plain captoe
1x dark brown monks
1x dark brown wingtips
And a couple more suede loafers and blutchers for the weekends.

You need some burgundy in your life mate ;) A pair of burgundy half/quarter brogues would be good addition. Wholecuts if you're daring. Even if you're still considering another pair of dub monks I would also consider burgundy. Get the tan longwings as your fifth shoe.

Loafers would be a good as well but you mentioned that you're not too keen on them. I'd also recommend a nice pair of dress boots but if you're not ready for loafers I'm assuming the same for boots.
