Hi Seniors,

Can I check how different are the fittings G and F? I understand G is more of a wide fitting while F is of a medium fitting.

Let say my usual dress shoes are of UK 7 G and I am intending to get a shoe of "F" fitting. Do you all suggest the same UK 7 F or I should be looking at half a size up i.e UK 7.5 F

Assuming u currently have experience with a UK 7G shoes, do they currently feel just nice or loose? If they feel just nice, getting the same size in F is almost out of the question.

You also have the consider the type of shoes (oxfords, monks, derby) and last which the shoe is made on. Not all UK F widths are equal both within the same brand and amongst diff brands.

Will be helpful if you have more details on specifically what brand and last shoes u currently wear (the 7G) and the ones u looking to get. Provide these info to the online retailers (you can contact multiple sellers if the shoes are available at diff websites) and they can give you an opinion from their experience, and hopefully will help you decide.

The true beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Vocalou calf is a well known tannery and sl's design is evergreen classic. (I think llyr's from there too, but not sure about the leather grade though) Drop by the store and see whether it speaks to you. Do check out other upcoming shoe brands like Vass (18oct), Carminas(Kbks), george cleverly and even ed et Al's MTO options since you are already keen to shell out that amount for the pair of shoes. At the price of 250+-, your best bets will be Ed et al & atelier llyr. Online options includes loake, herring, bexley.

The thing is I followed the seniors instructions here and head onto the Robinsons to try on the barkers and loakes. The UK 7 G fits nicely with just a little bit of allowance for comfort. The UK 6.5 G are abit too tight on the widths of the feet. Hence thats y I would think that the UK 7 G would be the right fit. I would think that the shoe i tried on was an oxford. Cheers

The SL mark up is excessive imho. For $630, one can get better value stuff like carmina u suggested and others. Of cos the main down side is not being able to try. But can always research n get feedback here and SF before pulling the trigger.

Did u try any of the shoes in an F width? I suggest you do that if u haven't done so and take down the brand, model of each pair that you try this time round, be it G or F width.

Like I was trying to explain, there's a good chance that would help to give the online retailer a sense of your current fit (because many of the english online retailers carry loake and barker) and potentially able to better advise you on sizing of the shoes you fancy.

Fact of the matter is you would have a much wider (pun unintended) choice of shoes in F width so knowing your shoe size in F width would be valuable.

Knowing your fit variation between an F and G fit would also be useful when it comes to shoes available in both width.

Agree with your analogy. So far I have bought from their direct online store as well as Skoab. The rest are from their retailers direct (Germany and Korea). I will be expecting my next pair from their online store which I hope they still keep this option open in the future.

I was near to pulling trigger on SL before they came to Singapore but hesitated due to unsure of sizing. Now that they are here locally but price delta is really hard to swallow. So it is off the radar for now. Anyhow, their shoes are also made in Spain.

Pedro shoes ... i find those pointed ones wear like three months, the front, the shape will change from pointed to rounded instead.

He's actually right. I used to buy shoes from pedro too. Less than a year, they would fall apart. I even used to think that this was expected of shoes and every few mths i would be spending another 100 or so bucks on new lousy shoes only for them to spoil again. It makes perfect sense to invest more in better shoes.
And that's when i discovered this forum.
