The OS X 10.10.1 update is recommended for all Yosemite users. It improves the stability and compatibility of your Mac. This update:

- Improves Wi-Fi reliability
- Improves reliability when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange Server
- Improves reliability sending Mail messages when using certain email service providers
- Improves reliability when connecting to remote computers using Back to My Mac.

Fire up your App Store today!

That's why I'm not keen to upgrade. Doesn't help that the "new look" sucks in my books.

Should be the wifi intermittent drop issue..

Intermittent drop as in wifi still connected but no internet or totally not connected to wifi network?

If it's the later, when the issue happens, open up System Information, Select Network -> Wifi on the left sidebar and take note of the "Supported Channels"

What happens to my 2011 MBP is that it will not connect to my wifi after wake from sleep.

I'm on 5Ghz wifi with automatic channel.

When my MBP wakes from sleep, the supported channel listed will change(up to channel 140) and the Country Code will change from SG to blank

Since my router likes to use channel 149, it cannot detect my network.

The only workaround for me now is to use a static channel 44.

rMBP '14 WiFi says it's connected but it's unable to reach the internets. :s22:

Is this specific to OS X Yosemite or problem persists even with OS X Mavericks?

on yosemite. mavericks should have problem. Mine is still un-fixed too..

Sorry, did you mean OS X Mavericks shoudn't have problem?

This issue seems to be mac-specifics as well(not getting such issue for mine) so I don't know how Apple Engineers are going to fix this. but since it's specific to OS X Yosemite, that shouldn't be hard for them to try and fix it.

I'm not sure if they have captured enough affected macs to investigate the problem and come up with an update to fix the issue.

Especially on Yosemite and iOS 8. Prior to this, Maviercks and iOS 7 was fine with WiFi and Bluetooth

It was fine on the Yosemite developer preview too. Not sure what changes Apple made to the final golden build.

I guess there are some technical hurdles that's is yet to be resolved due to the implementation of continuity, Airdrop etc.

Upgrade to 16GB ram and SSD and you will definitely see huge improvements.
I upgraded my 2011 Macbook Pro with 256GB SSD and I never look back and more recently to 16GB of ram cause I run VMs for academic purposes.

I also took out the super drive and replaced it with a 1TB hard disk cause I need more storage space and optical drive seems pretty useless these days.
