hey guys! anyone has tried self sourced IO before? basically, i went for an interview in the company that my dad is working with, but i will not be in the same division/department as him if i do get selected; he won't be my supervisor or anything.

i know that ntu states that you cannot have an immediate family member working in the organisation, so I was wondering if anyone has 'smoked' through this before. because i saw the declaration form and apparently the company has to declare too..
i self sourced now because i will be going for exchange during semester 2.

I self sourced myself but had issues getting NTU to approve the company because it was already on their list. If your dad's company is one of the companies that you can apply through NTU's system you might wish to keep this in mind.

That aside, as long as both parties willing to sign the declaration forms, you shouldn't have any issues.

Also, is it possible to go for exchange in the first sem of year 2?cause I don't think yr1s2 GPA will be out when u apply

I self sourced a coy on ntu's list, CAO was okay with it. It even helped me in fact because I was lacking some forms and since their on the list, CAO helped me to get them.

Exchange in yr2 sem 1 is okay. I went during that sem.

Not much to elaborate. First NTU said that they didn't want me depriving others who applied through NTU of a slot.

Then I got the company to state that me joining would not affect the students who applied to NTU but they still rejected my application. Shoot email here, shoot email there, eventually I got them to approve it.

But then what's concerning me is that, if the company signs the declaration form, technically they are lying because it states that "the student does not have any immediate family member working in the organization", which is not true cos like I said, my dad is also working there, just under a different department.

So I'm not sure about that. Unless if the company really wants to hire me, then I presume there might be some type of exception? Assuming the company + me email CAO to request + use the different department logic.

Don't mention it to CAO at all. They won't check and will never know until you tell them about it. Just get the company to sign the forms if they're okay with it and submit it.

The minute you admit to CAO that your father is working there, they'll make a lot of noise.

Final year taking Fluid dynamics nao. A lot of year 3 people taking fluids dynamics will drop half way into the semester because it really need a lot of time to understand. It's one of the killer modes. But once you understand it shouldnt be a problem. Lecturers go through very quickly too. So if you're a fast learner then go ahead.

GERPEs

Hello, any recommendations for GERPES for Sem 2?

Still freshman but kanchiong to finish GERPEs electives first! Esp since I only need to do 3 cos of poly exemptions Need do biz, sci and liberal arts. Looking at tourism BU8543, intro to adv CS8060, sci or fiction BS8003 for Sem 2. Are they easy to score As? Plus, should I wait for forensic sci next next sem???

Also, any recommendations for minor? Dunno if I should do according to interest or for practicality. Of course, if want practical, better to take minor in biz right? But I already have a business diploma in tourism from NP, dunno if it's good enough or not. If not, what should I take? I got interest in music (NIE) but not much background except for some years in sch band; translation cause I already know Japanese, and am planning to take Spanish in sem 2 too...

Aiyo, star wars coming up on Tue for me, and I'm still undecided. :/
