Thought word on the street was that for the Speedmaster, the model code changed again, and there was another price rise?

Yes the model code no longer 3570.50, it has changed to 311.30.42.30.01.005 and price has gone up quit a fair bit. Basically the same watch head and movement but with a improved bracelet with screw links instead of push pins. The packaging has also become very elaborate with some extras thrown in like a NATO strap, strap change, loupe etc. Worth or not? up to individual to decide.

I would however rather buy a used 3570.50 for maximum value. After all the 1861 movement has not changed for a loooong time.

A wristshot of my newly acquired Orient Star Gmt from tokyo.

orient star is a really understated brand. design and quality is really is top notch. true WIS brand. bambino is great but the Orient Star classics is so much better for not much more:

Just back from two watch events.

Rather quiet......not much crowd. Spoke to the staff and they highlighted the same issue - PRC tourists volume has dropped quite a bit. Heard some popular branches didn't hit target.

that's good - might see less aggressive price increases from swiss watch brands.

at the moment they are pushing out more fashion/status than innovation and quality, the value for swiss watches is at an all time low to me.

Any review of this watch?

Try googling for reviews. There are some out there. Good ones too iirc. Don't think you can go wrong with this model. 80hrs power reserve and can switch easily between casual or smart with either the bracelet or leather strap respectively

Yes they are indeed quite value for the money. I'm enjoying wearing mine right now. Only wish it was closed case back instead of open.

yeah this smacks to me as another quick marketing stunt by omega. with the millions of speedmasters in the used market, i think owners of the new box and bracelet will see steeper depreciation for their new watches.

then again it will spin off a whole new grey market for the new speedmaster bracelets....

just back from down under with the wife and kids.

didn't have time to go watch shopping, only managed to get a pic of this perpetual monstrosity

did a lot of travelling to see things we don't see in SG:

i always travel with two watches both non-mechanicals for 99.9999% reliability

best g shock ever for me, good balance of bling and tool watch, very versatile for any occasion, any dress
20141209_120959.jpg

but its huge and i got a few glances from folks, probably due to the way it glimmers and shows off its colours in the bright aussie sun

but this trusty solar quartz has been my holiday buddy for the longest time. great accuracy and literally 100% fuss free and i can totally depend on

Tissot has the cheapest chronometres.

Hmm.. has it got anything to do with comfort of clear back material on you wrist? Otherwise not sure why would it make a difference..

I can understand if your issue was with the reverse as some people might like to be able to view the movement.

Was having a difficult time to decide between a Sub and a Pam. Ultimately followed my heart and settled for a Pam. Thanks all for the advice.

Trying to make my 24mm strap work on my 372. Love this old strap too much to discard it.

how do you clean your watches with steel strap?

My watch is water resistant to 100m.
Can i soak the whole watch in water when cleaning?
