Kee kee. Another brand ***** sibo ? Rotation between Pam , Sub & AP.

Actually more to do with the case size... At that point in time I liked the large case size, but as time passes I find it less suitable for me. It has become one of the weekend watches. :s13:

If 1k prob a tissot visodate. Actually I'd get a bambino at 100 plus and get a branded wallet for woman because not much upgrade from 100 to 1000 IMO.

It would be different if u up the budget to around 3-5k because that will open up more choices.

Thanks for the suggestion so there's no decent watch one can get for a lady with that budget? Or I should be looking at those simple CK or MK watches? Or just get a Mont Blanc ladies pen instead of a watch

Hey guys, anyone ordered from Maddog Straps before? I'm particularly interested in his custom bronze torpedo buckle.. At 5mm thick, it's to die for!

Paging for strap masters... Hahaha!

1.7k to 1.9k? Lots of decent choices. Tissot, Mido, Hamilton, Longines, Ball, Sinn, Tag Heuer, Oris all have got offerings at this price. Need to narrow down to prefer Quartz? Or mechanical? Sporty? Dressy? Size?

Never knew there is so much tumult happening in Tag Heuer. Probably similar happening in many other brands.

Tag Heuer has to focus on their in-house movements or risk becoming like any other micro brand or becoming like those a few rungs down like Oris and Tissot.

Other than movements Tag makes damn fine quality timepieces. Seriously brand bias aside all these timepieces are made from precision machinery with an array of QC measures, till today I can't see a big difference in quality between the mid to semi high end pieces I've handled including Tag, Omega, Rolex and Panerai. None of these have complicated elaborate hand crafted movements the likes of ALS or PP.

Thats why I bought my watches design and looks first, and the quality is just smack in that range with these mid range brands. I didn't intend to hit the 10k and beyond range with my Pam but just so happened I loved the design.

So really the few k we pay more for a Rolex or Pam to me is mainly brand name if I'm honest with myself. . Yeah when you get to the more haute brands yeah probably there is indeed more expensive watchmaking involved there but hey I'm just a spectator in that high end level...no first hand experience.

Long ago in the southern province of China......OK enough of Tan Ah Teck. But indeed I was looking for a first watch for my wife. And wife was like 'dont spend so much la. ..etc', I found out that them ladies are not as fortunate as us guys. Looked at everything from neighbour hood City chain to MBS boutiques. In the end got a white ceramic bezel Omega PO 37.5mm simply because of looks...we just couldn't find something we both liked. From few hundred bucks watch became Omega.

OK point I'm making is its really hard to find cheap and good ladies watch. For guys just a Steinhardt for example can do the job...tough diver tick, manly bracelet tick, automatic tick, sapphire crystal tick...you get the picture.

Well rachdanon... buy what you feel is "best bang for bucks"

but I won't group Rolex together with Tag Heuer n Omega. No way...

ROLEX watches are able to retain value and even increase value for some vintage watches is not just because of their brand only but also because they produce their own movts since Day One and the high level of customer service all ROLEX AD must provide, plus they also make it easy for clients to authenticate rolex watches at nearest RSC.

To me..Rolex is considered the first step into luxury watches which use 100% own movts.

PP and ALS are top end luxury watches. Till date, not many watch makers can match the QC level of ALS.

according to iceflight dai dai kor... ALS will assemble a watch movt, take it apart and then put it back together again before the watch is packed, sealed and delivered...

here are a list of watch brands we know n some of the movts they make or use (incomplete) from WUS forum
What watch companies still make their own movements?
