Hi guys, I'm very interested to get this monitor but may I ask if my graphic card (MSI AMD Radeon R9 290 4gb) can support FPS games like battlefield 4, Advanced warfare smoothly? On what resolution should it be played on?

Thanks!

Answer is you wont get good fps rate.

This is quite close to 4k res already. A single 290 wont give you good game play.

A single 290 on BF4 2560x1440 then yes may be possible to pull just nice 40-60fps range.

Tested and proven on my ----->

So if you are gonna get this monitor to game bf4, you will need at least another 290.

Not unless you wanna reduce your graphics criteria to a low mid graphics detail to pull higher fps.

Wow! More choices and more headaches! Haha!

I'm currently running it on a Samsung UA55F8000 55-Inch LED TV. Quite smooth and no noticeable lag. Actually not quite sure if I should change my monitor setup although got poisoned already.

Thats your poison mah. Tv is tv. Monitor is for close range viewing.

Is either you,

Buy this monitor, and play any games with dual 290s.

OR

Dont buy this monitor, wait for more 4k monitors to be release and price to drop further, then consider getting an overhaul with new dual gpu config.

New gpu will be dual r9 390x.

Just received my 2 sets of U3415W today from the delivery man.

Got it at 1399 each. Its a huge upgrade compared to my Dell U2711.

Wah lau...both sets of U3415w got serious backlight bleeding issues. Got to call and ask for replacement.

If I get the Samsung S32D850T instead, I should be ok with a single 290?

Yes you should be fine on a single 290. Thats for sure on the s32d850t.

Playing Shadow of Mordor on a single r9 290 everything max out can get playable fps range.

Just like what shadow mentioned. Its the resolution that makes it hard to drive. Not the size.

1980x1080 Full HD is the easiest to drive as of now
2560x1440
2560x1600
then this U3415W
then a 4k monitor.

noticed the monitor doesnt come with the standard DVI socket and only HDMI..does that mean we should connect only using HDMI from our card and is HDMI equivalent to the DVI output?

Revolution and maximum framerates aside, DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI video quality is the same as they are all digital signals.

If u reading specs it is no diff at all , but I find it weird when I change to hdmi the texts become clearer . I didn't do any settings change also

Actually wrong, DVI is an very old specification that only supports up to certain clock timings and is severely limited in 4K resolution. E.g up to 3,840 × 2,400 @ 33 HZ with GTF blanking for a dual-link DVI. People will probably notice "blurring" at this resolution or even blank screen.

DVI's going to be completely phased out of future monitors. You'll probably see them extinct by this year 2015 or latest 2017...

i tot gt ppl get at 1270? what is zxiong deal ?

1270 is before GST?
They quoted me 1379 aft GST.

Dell also doesn't have a suitable desk mount for this monitor size.
Checked with ergotron, their LX desk mount arm also cannot accomodate 34". Only wall mount can :(

Don't really want to drill my wall leh.
