Agree with some what have said, many ppl nowadays
the phone have powerbank and
if you add a DAC to the setup it look like you carrying a brick.
When I carry my DAP with DAC, my friends tend to tease
me wah your powerbank so big ah?

after reading all comments. i feel it;s like buying coffee
dap=coffee cup
dac/amp=coffee platic bag. hahaha.....

i think dac/amp use range is wider, but take up more space lah.
(ok,i'm not so sure yet, can dap also connect to pc and act as a dac/amp?)

IMO, a using a phone as a DAP can never be better than having a dedicated DAP. Which I find the same for phone camera and dedicated digital camera.

P.S. - Just my 2 cents.

As long as you find that the sound is good for you, no one is stopping you from using your phone as a DAP. What sounds good to me might not sounds good to you and vice versa.

I actually like my phone -> Apex Glacier and phone -> Chord Hugo a lot. Let a friend try it, poor fella, just bought his DX90 (literally, on that day), and was stunned by the Chord Hugo. Kenna poisoned.

I don't use high end equipment...
I just use a very basic Sony E-series walkman to connect to car audio system, and the sound quality already beats my phones (iPhone 5s / Samsung S4) handsdown.
Notably, the separation of different types of sound is very obvious.
With the E-series, I can hear different instruments playing distinctly, while with the phones it's more jumbled together.

My belief is... if the "source" is bad, add a DAC and you will just be amplifying the weak spots as well.

This is totally wrong. You are simply comparing the headphones out of both the Walkman and Phones. There is a good chance that a properly paired phone and DAC combo with beat the hell out of your Walkman :s8:
