Hi y'all,

Got my first Apple product in my life - iPhone 6 Plus.
Was a hardcore Android user, heheh.

Anyway, need expert opinions here, is AppleCare+ warranty extension highly necessary and recommended? Or it's better not to have this and invest in screen protector and cover?

I am quite clumsy and have sweaty palms. My previous phones slipped out of my hand before too, and given the size/ slimness of this phone, I think the probability of repeated incidents will be higher.

I've asked my colleagues for their opinions too. Surprisingly, none of them knew this AppleCare+ thing exists. Mostly they said, get this for "a better peace of mind" - which is not a very helpful comment.

Prior to this, I was already thinking of mobile phone insurance MobileCover.sg (Phone Insurance).

Am evaluating all options.

Many thanks in advance!

All insurances are a waste of $$ till an accident happens.

For your previous phones, did you break your screens or are they always kept in immaculate condition? Do the same for this phone.

Just get the apple care plus.
This will increase your warranty coverage to 2 years so meaning one more year extra.
Additional got 2 accidental damage / water damage which only had to pay $108 to replace your damaged phone compare to the normal one year when u need to change the phone due to any damaged which going to cost a lot more. ($550 for IP 6)
Insurance is for rainy day. If ppl say waste of money then when s**t hit the fence who stand to gain or lose out?? Your call. No one can predict what will happen or going to so alway Prepare for the worst is my advice.

Thanks for the inputs!

I suppose I'll skip the insurance and get the AppleCare+.

@jaymessofly:
Nope. Dropped but no damage, surprisingly. Only the first instance I managed to get a one to one replacement.

For my case, getting a good handphone case really helps. Besides, my previous phone was a phablet (Sony Xperia Z Ultra). Much bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus.

I had bought AppleCare plus for my 5S. Went to A Lab yesterday to complain about battery issues (phone already 14 mths old). Went through the diagnostic but result was battery still ok, 83% I think. Battery drain were due to high graphical games.
The staff noted I had Apple care plus and said since my 5S screen looks to have some discoloration, she'll do a 1-1 exchange.
I looked at the screen but couldn't see anything wrong. I just shrugged and said thanks.
With Apple care plus, I think they cut us some slack with replacements.
Going to get for my 6plus tomorrow.

Go to any authorized (physical) Apple store to buy.
It's one of those card on the shelf. Very much like the Apple App Store credits packaging but smaller... a single piece of card-board.

Hope this helps..

You can't do that anymore. You can't walk into any Apple stores to buy AFAIK.

Just received my Starhub set today... registered my set under my Apple support profile...
Call Apple Support...
CSO gave me a payment link email... (also got option to provide card details over the phone)
Key in payment details submit... and that's it...

I did not want to go through the hassle of the diagnostics... and don't want to forget and miss out the eligible period... so quickly buy and register for it...

Thankfully did not ask me to do diagnostics test...

The benefits are as follows:

AppleCare+ provides repair or replacement coverage, both parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians. Service coverage includes the following:
- Your iPhone Battery (1)
- Included earphones and accessories
- Coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage, (2) each subject to a S$108 service fee

AppleCare+ for iPhone - Apple Store (Singapore)

You contact them at 68351812 as well. :)

Buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase by calling 800-186-1087 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase). Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order.

You can only add it to your cart and checkout if you purchase the phone online too.

You need to call Apple and say you want to purchase AppleCare+(need to be within 60 days of your phone purchase).

If you are using it for 2 years, yes. If not, no.
