Most watches have positional variances but different watch will behave differently, no fixed behavior. I think this doesn't really apply to modern rolex? Mine sub/exp2 is mostly unaffected no matter how I rest them at night.

Mine is a new 114060. I am gonna try resting it flat to see if it gains time.

It does not lose time when on my wrist throughout the day though.

Nevertheless interesting stuff. Makes mechanical watches seem like living beings. Imperfect yet beautiful.

Something I found to be quite interesting about Rolexes.

I wonder if this applies to most/all mechanical watches.

I place mine on its crown each night and, sure enough, it has slowed down by a second or two.

Applies not only to Rolex. If a watch has some positions gaining and some losing then you can actually play with how you rest the watch overnight to get it close to 0 secs per day. However it could be that all positions are fast or slow so there is no way to self regulate like this. Positional variances and isochronism (accuracy depending on state of wind) are the challenges faced by watchmakers. The tourbillon is an example of how they try to overcome positional variances...all this to me is just amazing engineering!

Some watches come with details of the positional variances like Panerais with in-house movements. Whenever I send watches for servicing I will ask them for the results too.

The base watch snzh57 is still available locally, I see the hands and bezel are stock and the crystal too? The dial with same gold markers is available on Dagaz web store?

Do you know where I can go to get the dial modded for the SNZH57?

Thanks!

Is it true that Rolex Daytona's lug is thicker on the left side as compare to the right ?

Hmm not expert but I think on brand new modern daytona the lugs will be same thickness, Rolex is known for really tight manufacturing tolerances resulting in great fit.

Uneven lugs usually found on older pieces and could ne due to poor polishing done in the past.
