You don't have to be rooted. But you need an unlocked boot loader and a custom recovery to flash the mod. Anyway the smooth scrolling mod is already outdated and not compatible with your cm11s version so you can forget about it.

Also what kind of lag you referring to? Please don't tell me it's not as smooth as iPhone..

My wife has probably been using Android devices longer than 99% of users here, so no, not in comparison to the iPhone. Not all chicks dig iPhones :s13:

Lag meaning general lag compared to other devices that are similarly powered - scroll lag, tap lag, loading lag, etc.

If you have a custom recovery and rooted, you can wipe cache and dalvik cache. This should speed things up. But just cache and dalvik cache, do not wipe other things or do a factory reset...

If still on stock rom.. then not really sure what you can do. CM11S is supposed to be quite speedy compared to other skins by other manufacturers.

Perhaps your wife is using some theme? Using some themes can slow down the system by a bit..

Also some rogue apps can cause system to slow down. Uninstall whatever useless app you not using.

You can also try to just clear your app cache from the storage in settings.

If you still not satisfied, then last but probably best option is to backup whatever you can and do a factory reset. Your phone should be back to normal. But you need to know how to back up all your important stuff and how to restore them again after a fresh reset.

Thanks. It's still on stock ROM. She's using themes since she doesn't like the stock look, but themes shouldn't slow things down that much does it?

I'll see if I can find any rogue apps that can be uninstalled, but I think mostly it's the standard few - whatsapp, instagram, some photo editing software, etc.

Well, Oxygen runs pretty stable, but lacks many features of CM. It's really a stock AOSP rom with the bare essentials added.

On the flipside, Xposed works on it, so you don't really lose much of CM's features. (nonwithstanding the just release 5.1 version of xposed).
I dirty flashed Oxygen from blisspop. All my apps are intact.

Open Camera got deleted. I set privacy guard to ask. And it did, even though not supported in Oxygen. :)

The downside is a ui reboot. Xprivacy on xposed killed the phone. I flashed blisspop to recover.

The problem with themes you never know. They have known to knock out Play store install, settings buttons etc

Try another theme to monitor.

Dirty flash is always a bad idea, especially roms of different base (CM/AOSP).

You were using the pre-release version of xprivacy right? It's known to cause bootloop anyway. Personally App ops is good enough for me.

try using CM Cleaner,

the only app that I know that can dig through your phone thoroughly and delete those unwanted stuffs, and also tell you which app you are not using are running in the background..

worth a try tho, and also read and understand what it is deleting, sometimes will auto delete whatsapp pics, so have to double check once it analyzed. good luck :)

OPO shouldn't be lagging one, especially 11s.

Yeah I wonder what's the point of the article.

Anyway I'm already rocking cm12.1 unofficial. Probably won't switch to cm12s.

Waiting to see if the camera app has been improved though.

Steve Kondik posted a link to that article.

Most probably a PR attempt to give the people complaining about OxygenOS a morsel of hope.

Question for those who are currently on CM12 nightlies or CM12.1 unofficial.

Are you still able to get LTE signal or only H/H+ and is your signal stable without any disconnections?

I have a serious network issue after flashing CM12 nightlies. I could not get LTE signal and my data connection will keep switching between H and H+ with frequent disconnections and loss of signal (exclamation mark).

No problem here. Tried cm12 nightlies and now on cm12.1. Lte all the way as per norm. Using stock kernel and apn setting is correct.

Haven't read finish the article yet but wtf why cyanogen so ** go and suddenly terminate contract with opo? Because they made a poor quality phone with yellow tint? :s11:

Like that next time no ota cm updates liao ah, left with the oxygen os?

There were some pain working with OnePlus that was never mentioned.

The other point is a possible larger market in India than China. India don't have the great Internet Firewall. So they are giving up one bird in hand for another.

Based on the public comments, I think Cyngn has decided to not to cancel OP contract, rather let it continue. Yes Jan 2016, no more CM OTA. i have no idea how this impacts Micromax deal.

Bottom line. Even if there is no more S series build, you can always use CM nightlies. If CM decided to pull the trigger on that, you can wait for another dev to build on AOSP, to create BlissPOP, LiquidSmooth, Vanir, Daleski etc.

Yes, I encounter similar on CM12/12.1 as well.

It takes longer to regain signal when it's lost, loses signal more often. Of course, this depends on your area of usage. For me, I just use apps to set the signal to 2G when using wifi, and then LTE when outside of wifi....at least it doesn't drain battery as bad.

Noticing less of the behaviour on CM11S and OxygenOS, so for me it might be a placebo effect, but I guess CM's non-official modems ain't that good.
