yes, its under network Map > internet status.

anyway what is the DHCP? do i need to care ?
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an Internet Protocol (IP) host with its IP address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask and default gateway.

Your ISP will assign an IP address to your modem/ONT. There is a timing when this IP will be renewed or change. I guess your ISP set it to 2 hours.

You can ignore it if your internet connection to your ISP is stable and not disconnected.

nice ok thanks. anyway do you know what is this under internet status? the lease is counting down.

Lease time
2 hours

Lease expires
1 hours 31 minutes 42 seconds

So far i think there is problem with Note 4 wifi, it keeps dropping out of 5ghz band while my Tab S 8.4 and other devices remains at 5ghz.
NOTE4 will need need on 2.4Ghz. It is reported here that it have issue with 5Ghz.

no wonder when i use 5ghz, i kept auto switch to 2.4ghz. I dont have issue with my Tab S 8.4, Note N7000.
Quite annoying to switch to 5ghz everytime
If you are having common SSID for both band, I think all devices will end up in the 2.4 GHz only because it has a longer range...

That's not my experience. iDevices seem to roam pretty much ideally here. They sometimes settle on 2.4Ghz when carried into an area in sleep mode, but switch pretty quickly to 5Ghz when active. And, as I reported on SNB, I've actually been amazed how well they roam - I can walk around between AC87 routers and APs while playing stuff over AirPlay and the device will switch between the APs and between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz all without dropping the AirPlay session :). I doubt that would work with different SSIDS! I needed to turn off Roaming Assist though. They didn't like being kicked off the radio by the AP.

I did have some trouble with an Intel AC 7260 laptop settling on 2.4Ghz, but the advanced properties for the AC 7260 allows you to "prefer 5Ghz" and now all is good :).

hi, i have some problems with the guest network(2.4ghz and 5ghz) after updating firmware to 4608 and 4950 (did a hard rest for this one) . The mac filtering is always enable despite me trying to turn it off multiple times. I have mac filtering on my private network but do not want it to be enable for my guest network. is there a work around for this? I only found 1 guy with the same problem as me on smallnetbuilder. Any help would be appreciated. Tried emailing to asus support but no response so far except the automatic response.

I would assume you meant you have turned the mac filtering off at guest network right?

So what you mean is mac filtering got turned on despite turning off at guest network as your private network has mac filtering on?

hi, i mean i want my mac filter enable for private network (my own use, do not want my tenant to access my intranet) and disable mac filter for guest network (for my tenant). Apparently mac filter (acceptance mode, enable for my private network ) in wireless section has overriding power over guest network option in such a way that when i tried to disable mac filtering on guest network, it's still return to enable after i log out and log in. It's frustrating as this mac filtering option is not around in the previous firmware and i had to enter manually all my tenant devices for them to use my guest network. Regretted upgrading it but can't remember when is the last firmware version that do not have this option .

Nvm, the technical staff replied saying the Mac filtering option in guest network is linked to the overall Mac filter in wireless section. Cannot disable unless I disable the overall Mac filter. Guess I have to find out which previous version does not have this dumb function in guest network.

router password should be known only to you so that they wont be able to access the router settings.

I tot for Guest Network, there's an option to disable "Access Intranet"...

Not sure how effective it is...

They were supposed to have completely stopped access to the router, other than as a gateway, from the guest network with 4950. I did try it quickly and I could not access the WebGUI or Telnet, but it was a quick check. Maybe someone else can verify?

I'm on 4950 (full reset and reconfigured) for couple of days and it's pretty good and stable.

However, I do note that there is a lag in connection when I first start up my notebook (Intel 7260 with latest driver). Win7 shows connected to wireless network but there is an exclamation mark. It takes a minute to reach full internet connectivity. Anyone can advice on this?

Also, midway through, the connection can break even though Win7 showed full connection to wireless network, 5GHz.

The guest network in AP Mode doesn't even have the access intranet option and is just broken. It allows full access to the Local network.

Guest Network in Router Mode seems solid. You cannot even ping any devices on the network other than the gateway - they appear invisible - although I have only used a couple of commercial IOS apps, not any elite hacking tools!

As in my other post, since 4950 I believe they have locked all on the guest network out of router admin, even if you had a password. But it might be good for someone else to look at that too.

Are you using iOS?

iOS 8.3 is out today, here are some of the fixes:

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth fixes:
● Fixes an issue where you could be continuously prompted for login credentials
Addresses an issue where some devices disconnect intermittently from Wi-Fi networks
● Fixes an issue where hands-free phone calls could become disconnected
● Fixes an issue where audio playback could stop working with some bluetooth speakers

more here...

The new iOS 8.3 might fixed the intermittent WiFi connections. If not, it is still back to ASUS to find a fix.
