As mentioned, today is a new watch day for me.

Decided that I want to be more like Yatto, hence the Patek 5712.

Went down to the shop where they had a sealed piece.







After handing over the cash, it's bye bye seal...







And it's out






Wanted the shop to size the bracelet, but he suggested to go to Patek service centre instead. So off I went.






A hammer was required to size the bracelet!

Generally, homages are replicas of popular watches from big brands, but using sterile dials (and typically, cheaper movements) so as to avoid being one-to-one copies.

Some idiots however consider the assemblage of virtually identical watches as homages, when they are essentially fakes.

You're generalising the term 'homage'. There is homage as the general term - imitation to celebrate or commemorate. And there is homage as specifically understood in the watch world - taking a design and replicating in entirety or in part, but modifying or sterilising certain elements.

And what makes you think polo tees are first sold by lacoste...
