Just thought I should contribute since i benefited from the responses in this thread :)

Moral of the Story: Know What You Want, NEVER GIVE UP!

My Background:

Offered NUS Biz this year through 2 rounds of discretionary admissions interviews

age: 26, 3rd year applying (Always NUS Biz first choice)

Engineering Dip GPA low 2's, Specialist Dip in events etc GPA 3.4

O Levels: L1R4 21, No A Math or pure sciences

SAT Reasoning 1820

I was also shocked at being offered. It really shows that you just need to keep going at it and eventually even the toughest wall will crumble!

congrats bro! welcome to NUS Biz :s13:get ready :D

you should check ACES again. If the appeal status hasn't changed then probably you're still under consideration.

To add on, if your appeal fails, it would appear as your appeal is unsuccessful. If it is still stated as your appeal is received, that means they are still pending your appeal.

For NUS Biz, do most students go on to the 4th year for Honours? Or just graduate without one at the end of 3rd year?

Sent from phone using GAGT

u need at least 3.5 CAP to qualify for the 4th year.

"The B.B.A. programme requires students to complete 120 Modular Credits (MCs) to graduate. After completing at least 80 MCs worth of modules, students with a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of 3.5 and above will be streamed into the B.B.A. Honours programme, which requires 160 Modular Credits to graduate."

So I can easily say half of the cohort grads in 3 yrs lol..

The requirement has been lowered to 3.2, allowing for more students to pursue honors.

I didn't go for any prep course or camp last year.
But having friends before you start is pretty useful.. especially seniors.
Not sure about the prep course, probably more worth it if you are from polytechnic

Alright, thanks for the advice. Will think about it more. :)

Just gave up a spot in NTU Econs for SMU Biz hope the spot can go to someone else:)

To boost the morale of those who are still trying, I have been rejected for 2 years (before and during NS) before getting accepted this year so do not give up hope and do whatever means necessary to get into the course of your choice!

Hi all,

Is it possible to still yet to hear a reply from SMU? (since the very first submission of application in March) Because that's the case for me. I've applied for Social Sciences @ SMU and till now have yet to hear anything from them when the deadline for the second window of acceptance is tomorrow (21 June).

Is it possible to actually receive a reply (acceptance or rejection) from SMU even after the 21 June?

Also, I've recently went for my NTU interview for SSM programme just a few days ago (on thurs). Is it true that the universities do not reply/send acceptance or rejection on weekends? So I must wait till the weekdays to hear a reply from them?

Thanks to anyone reading this! :)

Summervin, im from NYP.
I share pretty similar fate as u haha. I took a longer path then my usual poly mates to get to poly. Older by 2-3 years...And it was indeed a v bumpy route to uni...got rejected initially and then appeal successful..

Omg. Really glad to know you! :s13: Let's strive hard in Uni!

Hi has anyone heard from NUS with regards to appeals? What do you think the competition is like for NUS biz?? Seems to me everyone is appealing for NTU biz (do most people think it's better? If not why is everyone dying to go there while there's next to nothing on appeals to nus biz?) sorry for my incessant questions! If anyone can shed some light that'll be great :) and I also realized most are from Poly which is kind of intimidating haha do my fellow JC mates just like accept what they're given and are not motivated to appeal? Thanks and all the best to those waiting on their appeals!
