To be honest those used to print graduation certificates are $5k- $10k range of graphic designing fuji xerox printers.

E.g. C5005d or P6700

CM305ddf print out is better than samsung but still not good enough for certificates printing. By the way what certs you printing? you opening your own degree mill? Singapore govt never reject so shld be quite profitable :s13::s13::s13:

Toners for CM305df

Black $112 3k page yield
Cyan $165 3k page yield
Magenta $165 3k page yield
Yellow $165 3k page yield

Drum $276 20k page yield

Samsung printers print out is the most cui among all brands if you need best print out go for Fuji Xerox, their strength and core is in color laser printers & copiers

I agree. Many years ago, I switched from HP monochrome Laserjet to Samsung color laserjet. I thought as long as is laserjet, all printout should be more or less the same. Big mistake.

Maybe now is different. I not sure.

Anyway, currently I'm using Canon imageCLASS MF8580Cdw. Toners made in Japan. Printout satisfactory. Suits my current needs. No regret.

Hi I'm looking for:

1) auto duplex functoin must have
2) black and white is sufficient
3) wireless not a must have but would be nice
4) low cost of the printer itself
5) low cost of compatible inks online
6) would be good if the ink and drum came together like those in canon printers
7) low maintenance

was looking at the canon mf221d but can't seem to find the compatible inks anywhere..

Hi, please suggest a printer for small office usage.

1. Mono or Colour
- Color

2. Print Scan Copy (3in1) or Print Scan Copy Fax (4in1)
- Can consider both

3. Printing capacity per month
- Around 500

4. Budget
- Below $1k
- Reasonable cost of consumables

5. Other extra requirement like wireless, iphone printing etc.
- Network connectivity (wired and wireless)
- Duplex

Thanks!

I'm currently using Canon imageCLASS MF8580Cdw . Seems to be able to cater for all your requirements. But one thing to note is u can only choose either wired connection or wireless connectivity from the printer, but NOT both. So, for my case, I use LAN connection (ie. Connect the printer to my router via LAN cable), and not the USB connection to PC/laptop. That way, I still can print wireless via the existing own router.

After that, u can still always print wireless say from mobile phones using canon app or the plugin via your current router that the printer will be connected to. Both the canon mobile printing app as well as the canon print service print plugin can be downloaded from the Google playstore. For iPhone and Windows mobile, I not sure if available or not. Cos we not using them. U can check it up.

Similarly, u can connect and print wireless from other laptops via the router, but not directly to the printer (ie cannot bypass router). If u want to print wireless DIRECTLY to this printer, then u cannot use the wired (USB/LAN) connectivity. Either one. Not both wired and wireless. I didn't know that when I purchased it previously. Not a real issue to me. But u may want to take note, if that's your concern.

Consumables reasonable or not, depends on u. To me, it is.

From the above link, think they are currently having promotion. $899, free $150 NTUC voucher and canon paper. What are their T&C, I not very sure. U can take a look.

Of course, there are also other brands and models available to consider.

Just sharing. :)

Thanks for your suggestion. Got the Brother 9330CDW instead as it was cheaper and seem to meet all my needs.

Hi there!

I have a P215b monochrome printer. Recently I noticed that running my finger across the printout, some of the black will be scratched off my finger.

Using original toner.

What could be the issue? Is this a good reason for RMA?

Not sure. But sounds like fuser problem?

I'm not sure too. What does a fuser do?

Anyway, if it helps, sometimes I need to print double-sided. So I notice that if I feed in the paper that's already printed on one side, then the powdery effect as I described earlier will occur. Is this a cause?

I'm not expert in this.

From my understanding, I think the fuser is to melt the toner onto the paper to create a permanent image.

So if it's malfunctioning or near lifespan, smears from melted toner like your case could result. I only guessing. Cannot be sure. Sorry.

How does a laser printer fuser work?
