55x8500c has x1 chip whereas 55x800C does not have .

The x1 chip control 4k color and at the same time provide smooth, no lag gaming @ 120Hz. when using 55x800c for damanding games, the TV screen will go blank or reset itself at times.

W800C is full HD, not 4K. It has its own video and image processor.

Fellows, just to check: how to register the warranty huh? & is there anyway to check that the warranty application is received successfully?

...They claimed to exchange a "new" set for me. The exchanged set turns out to be a used one, 12 hours of usage and 68 times of booting on.

So I've paid my money on a used set? Disappointing.

I got my replacement yesterday; these are my usage count:

which implies: the replacement TV sent to my place has been switched on a total of 4 times (excluding the 2 times that it was powered on at my place during the installation) before it reached my place. Is this typical?

Thanks; I managed to get it done! Observed something: the warranty for Bravia TVs are 3 years

Any idea when the $300 rebate will end, as I thought of to hold on till end of Oct'15 to buy the 55x8500c.

Seems ok right? They probably need to power it up a few times for testing, e.g. At the factory floor or to make sure they are not sending u a lemon?
Think about it, if u were suspecting this to be a second hand set, would it only have been powered up 4 times?

So long as it is covered by warranty it will be alright. Sony has reduced the coverage though, from 5 to 3 years.

I transfer all my 100 photos to a thumbdrive and then connect to the TV.

Press HOME button then select [Album] to view photos.

it will playback all the 100 photos automatically.

Compared to my set, yours is far better. The statistic is too ridiculous for my replacement set. Btw, case is not resolved yet.

Ok so you view those files from the a thumbdrive ?

what about when you are accessing the pictures from your NAS ?

from your thumbdrive, are you able to set the timing of the "slide show" or put music etc?

TV in power off mode, hold Display button, no. 5, Vol down together and Power on button.
Takes sometime for me to figure out display button. It's the one just below the numbers, left button

Sent from HTC One Max using GAGT

Its the i+ button, no. 5, Vol down then the power button right?
Seems that my TV doesn't want to do that.

Its seems that i am doing it wrong or something.
Doesn't power up or anything.

Any other ideas?

TV has to be OFF in standby mode 1st. Then pressed the sequence to power up.
