My reasons for not voting for the opposition:

1) I am not willing to be the idiot to vote for the opposition who will turn my estate into a slum through mismanagement and an unaccounted town council, just for the benefit of the rest of Singaporeans who wants to see more opposition in parliament.

2) I do not believe that the opposition can do a good job to manage Singapore if they cannot even do a good job managing a constituency.

3) Changing the ruling party will result in a change in policies, it will cause financial instability and plans put into action since long ago will be derailed.

4) There are ZERO competent opposition parties IMO.

Actually many anti pap but voting void vote.. already a few of my friends like that liao

Oppo no talent. Just kpkb
Unfortunately, I believe there are more people who have this type of thinking.

I wish I took a screenshot of a discussion with a friend of mine on MSN during the 2011 election period - she's from Moulmein-Kallang. She told me that she did not want to vote PAP but she had no confidence in the opposition candidates, so she'd rather throw in a spoiled vote.

P.S. whether she did that or not in the end, I do not know.

Elite degrees are just that. Degrees.

A lot of times it's a qn of what these ppl are motivated by. If it's money, u will see policies going in the direction of white paper for gdp and trains designed for profit than for public transport.

SMRT is a private company, and all private companies are driven by solely profit. If not open company for what?

If you're not happy with the service, don't take la. By taking the trains and paying for the service, you are DIRECTLY encouraging whatever activities that they undertake.

PAP already brought in more tiongs, pinoys and **** to vote for them. Their policies are skewed in favour of the new citizens anyway and you still vote for them :s13:

Your point about this:

3) Changing the ruling party will result in a change in policies, it will cause financial instability and plans put into action since long ago will be derailed.

It's like saying that the new MRT lines will stop construction if the Opposition takes over PAP as the new government

#PAPsupporterslogic

That is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that changing the ruling party gives the current opposition a lot of power to decide the fate of the nation. They can stop the whole jurong economic centre from developing, cut off ties from malaysia, etc. Albeit extreme, it is a clear example of what incompetent people may be able to do to our beloved nation.

Sure, the change may also result in the opposition doing the following:

1) Remove COE, make cars a more affordable mode of transport to all.
2) Revoke work permits for foreigners, remove immigration policies in place that favours foreigners.
3) Lower housing prices to make it more affordable to the younger generation.

Sure, these are popular measures to take, and provide an immediate solution to the pressing matters that we currently face. However, are you willing to see thousands more cars on the roads overnight? Endless jams regardless of the time and location?

Removing all FTs from our nation seems to be a natural solution to many of our problems. But if we take them away, who is going to do their jobs? Nowadays, Singaporeans have been spoonfed for generations. Who here is still willing to partake in the jobs that these FTs have been doing? FTs contribute to our nation through taxation and other economical means, they do not have the privilege to use our social welfare system here and yet, their presence are never appreciated by our nation.

PAP already brought in more tiongs, pinoys and **** to vote for them. Their policies are skewed in favour of the new citizens anyway and you still vote for them :s13:

Not a bad idea, you're on your way to bankrupt the country! Nicely done!

Actually, voting for opposition is the best.
If opposition wins, You get opposition voicing your needs and the whites pandering for your affection.
So essentially, you are getting served by two parties.

I'm voting non PAP simply because to encourage people to join non PAP parties. If the voting counts for them is so low, who would join them?
