Booking hotel in tokyo

Hi,

It's my first time to Tokyo and I'm going in Jan 2016. Would like to know how early should I book my hotel?

I tried booking now through agoda.com or booking.com but it seems Jan 2016 doesn't have many choices. Am I too early?

I actually looking to stay at Super Hotel Lohas Tokyo Station, location is very good and my colleague has stayed there before.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Cheers
Stephen

u can book directly through Super hotel website. they allow booking up to 6mths in advance.
some hotels only allow booking 3mths in advance, so u may be too early

guys my virgin trip to japan.

planning to go Tokyo and Kyoto for 9 days in Nov 15.

1) there are 2 airports in Tokyo which one is more convenient? I gathered that Hanade is nearer but narita's flight fare is 100 bucks cheaper
2) if I pick narita, is there any speed rail to Tokyo town?
3) any hotels to recommend?
4) what is a must buy there (cheaper than SG)?
5) can recommend how to split between these 2 places in 9 days?

->Haneda is nearer, but airport taxes are expensive.
I personally prefer Narita cos can buy all the discount tickets.

2) if I pick narita, is there any speed rail to Tokyo town?
->Yes. Either Keisei Skyliner or Narita Express

3) any hotels to recommend?
4) what is a must buy there (cheaper than SG)?
->Refer to here

5) can recommend how to split between these 2 places in 9 days?
->search www.japan-guide.com or see the itineraries listed in this thread.

[haneda is nearer. but for $100 difference, u may want to go with narita at the expense of longer travelling time.
it is cost about 1000yen one-way and takes 1+hr by Keisei normal train from narita to ueno station in Tokyo. about 2500yen for the faster Skyliner which takes 40mins. there is also Narita express train cost 4000yen round trip.

[Narita express and Keisei Skyliner]
3) any hotels to recommend?
4) what is a must buy there (cheaper than SG)?
[Japanese products:
toys - Gundam, Tamiya
branded bags - burberry blue label, agnes b, issey miyake
clothings - uniqlo, onitsuka tiger
food - Royce chocolate, shiroi kobito biscuit]
5) can recommend how to split between these 2 places in 9 days?
[maybe 4 days for Tokyo, 5 days for Kyoto+osaka? u can list down the places u want to visit then work out the number of days from there]

Name issue in Air ticket

Hi All

Can check with you all regarding the below name issue.

I just booked a SQ flight to Japan.

If the name I input in the ticket booking system is Tan AH KOW

But my actual name is TAN AHKOW in the passport.

Will there be an issue?

i think it doesn't matter so long as all the letters are there. friend ever entered my name chinese name joined together before for another airline e.g. tan ah kow as tan ahkow.

Anyone can advise me on the following?

I'll be in Japan from 10-21 Dec and will mostly be in Tokyo area, there are 2 events I'm interested in going, one on 11th in Hiroshima and another on 14th in Nagoya, will it be expensive to travel to both and back to Tokyo?
Other than costs I'm also thinking it may be a waste to go to Hiroshima once I touchdown in tokyo then have to go off to Nagoya without having time to enjoy Hiroshima.
The alternative is that I just go to Nagoya and skip the Hiroshima event

if you are using JR Pass, it would be about 300 plus dollars, u need to be back in Tokyo by the 7th day of the pass.

Ok that sounds reasonable, any suggestions on what to visit in Hiroshima assuming I stay 1 extra day there?
