Maybe he carbon frame or high end parts. My 1x11 xtr alu hardtail about 10kg on the scale. For comparison I have a 10x cheaper $399 marin hardtail 14kg.

I don't use bag on my current B. think the black edition not in the promo also. :o

Like Sadisticnoob, I have a chain equipped with a MissingLink but I don't bother with taking it off and cleaning it. I just do it on the bike.

I use FinishLine's 2 in 1 clean and lube and a toothbrush. Lots of paper towels to wipe off dirt and excess. Newspapers beneath the work area. I just go over every link until they are clean. I also flex the chain in order to get the dirt and grime out.

I can do this because the roads in SG are pretty clean and I ride on the roads/PCNs all the time. I don't do trails. So, I can get away with a relatively easy cleaning regimen.

Because your dirty chain has ground down the rest of the drive train. If you were to replace the chain now, the new chain will not fit properly into the teeth of the drive train.

I guess it's okay if you want a sweaty lump on your back.

And I don't understand the logic of not liking to add weight to the bike. Just by carrying the backpack on your back you're already adding weight to the bike. And it's even worse because you are heightening your center of gravity which makes you less able to control the bike in an emergency situation.

TBH and it's for your own good, it's a stupid idea to have a pack on your back.
